I just had a second surgery on the Nov. 30th and I'm barely speaking in a whisper. My voice really took a beating the second time around. | Hey Matt, I just listened to this for the first time today cuz I was having issues getting sound on my new computer. I have to say this ROCKS. I love the build at the beginning. I think in some places I drown you out, and when I do, I sound just a little too smooth for this tune, like I need a little grit in my voice or something. Your vocals are awesome though. This song in this key suits your voice perfectly. Hearing this makes me want to get back together and record more stuff like this. It's nice to hear it after not working on it for a couple of years because I can take a step back and look at it objectively and see how my voice does or does not work. It's harder to do that when you are in the thick of things. I'm currently unemployed, so I've got the time. Lemme know when/if you wanna lay down some tracks. We'll have to do it at your house because I lost the disc to my Sonar and don't have a working program on my new comp. Need money for that...no work, no money. | |

| WOW! This is absolutely gorgeous! The only thing that is standing out to me as something that isn't quite right, being organic and all, is the drum tones don't come through with enough depth to support the rest of the song. Like you hear the drums just poke through the surface of everything else which has so much depth, so they sound a little out of place. I understand that recording live drums can be quite difficult. I'm not sure if maybe you could eq them to get the lower tones to come through. I don't have ANY experience with that, but that would be my first instinct. |

| Hey Doc, I like your pants, man (imagine me saying that in a Napoleon Dynamite voice). Hee hee. I agree with you on the harmonies creeping up. It adds a nice element of surprise, but subtle enough that you may not notice it the first time you listen to a song, and then after listening a few more times, it's like a tasty little treat popping up out of nowhere. | I totally agree with 8MM, that vocal harmony on the left in the 2nd chorus is still sticking out and drowning out the other layers of higher vocals. I actually said that about the last mix, but then I pick things apart to a fault, so didn't want to beat it to death. ABH is so nice to do the mixing for us and has added some really nice touches, so I want to stay on his good side. (Thanks ABH). Thanks for the feedback, 8. About the overdriven guitar, we did have it louder before, but if you get it much louder than it is, the vocals disappear and it becomes a guitar solo. ) |
