havent heard much Gorillaz so don't know this record
don't really listen to much modern electrotechnodancehouseremixmusic but do like bands like NIN, Chemical B, Underworld. Mostly stream anonymous i-net radio as backgroud noise, at times. guitars are better.

ya, anything you wanna do with this is good by me. i could probably send you the original GB2 .band file if you want.

good rant; good tune
no loops=wow !
plaintive, mournful yet not depressing
strong emotion to the vocals, confident,
hwvr, better with lyrics than the opening "ohs" n "ahs"
good changes thru out

ps: funny-strange coincidence, i picked this song at random from the list, listened a few times, made comments, then logged in and saw you had visited my page yesterday...and just when i was thinking this site has become so big that i didn't hardly recognize anyone anymore...

cheers

perhaps a shorter "radio friendly" edit might have better served.

seems ponderous, reflective.

really cool perc trak stands solidly in opposition to the hypnotic guitar.

"suspensful" is a good description, unfortunately, it seems to go unfulfilled. was waiting for a third to unite the two poles of perc/gtr

Grady is Gordie's new band, based in Austin, with Whipper and Big Ben Richardson, who you might remember from the Ontario scene way back when. Grady is heavier and louder than BS (if you can believe it), the cd and live shows cover lots of BS material, but in a new way. Check www.shadygrady.net

a fitting tribute, and timely too as its been 15 years since that sad day...saw SRV five times, but the last time he came i thought, "i just saw them, i'll miss this time and catch the next" , but of course, no next....goes to show you, see your heroes while you can.
btw, if youre from TO, you must know Big Sugar and the fabulous Gordie Johnson, do you know Grady?? Chris Layton is playing with him now....

My sociable side says this is a pleasant little toon reminescent of peanuts cartoons, after-school specials and "I'm a Bill" civics lessons.
My cynical side says this is a startling commentary on propaganda used in the service of conformity.

Start Tomorrow by vos 6 years ago
Its at times like this that i wish i could see the actual GB screen shot to help visualize and maybe get a better handle on what Im hearing. In this case, to see if Im missing something, because, in all honesty, there is not much to hold my interest here. What I hear is basically three different electro/synth loops and a perc loop. THere are some cool sounds in here but not for 5:30 worth. The first half progresses slowly and never actually seems to go anywhere. second half seems to be a repeat of the first. i can click anywhere along the time line and it sounds the same.
As a rule I don't give ratings here , as they are essentially meaningless, and generally, i won't post negative criticism, but you asked...hope you don't take these comments the wrong way.

The Trip by dotted_treerunner 6 years ago
quite enjoyed this...could be incidental music to 70's tv western...reminds me of "How the West was Won"...curious to know more details on what you are using--GB loops? 3rd party loops? real instrument? own composition?...kinda strange stuter at 2:28.

nice intro...i like the soft section...too much kettle drum for my taste...sorry, but don't give stars as they are essentially meaningless here...enjoyed your piece though...orchestral music is difficult, so, good job.
Navel Gazing Suite by yogi 6 years ago
hey B, hope y'all are well...thanx for comments and constructive critique--you are probably the only one who listened to it all the way through...lol...ya, i wasn't totally satisfied with this but i kinda got tired of playing around with it and wanted to get it off my desk...i may try to rework it later...i kinda fell in love with that jangley guitar sound, but i know what you mean...the abrupt transition was somewhat deliberate...the overall premise behind this (such as there was one) was 'around the world'...thus the differring and somewhat juxtaposed styles...kampai !

Joe'music modern by Joemenet 7 years ago
Congrats on yer 1st upload! because a lot of stuff goes un-noticed and ignored here, you should always try to give some comments in the "description" - is it a cover, loops only, something cool that worked for you in the song, lyrics etc. this seems to generate more interest and thus more listens and feedback. Keep 'em coming!
QAA: lying in disgrace (feat. GreginAlaska) by ponkey 7 years ago

nice tune, good mellow vocal, liked the pseudo-mandolin guitar part, the C&W drum loop kinda took the song in a different direction from what the intro sets up, engaging lyric, fine vocal performance, overall works very well and good production.
Been listening to the old early VU stuff again, kinda reminded me of that.
I thought this track could have benefitted from a standard return to instrumental track and fade out after the last vocal line. But as has been discused elsewhere, endings can be problematic. It highlights GB's lack of "amens".
