thinking back I've penned descriptive, abstract, narrative, social commentary and humorous songs but as far as I can recollect never a 'love song' before.

Perhaps I've been afraid to 'let it all hang out' prior to this?

Initially it came together very swiftly, was easy to construct, it's that 'creative bubble' moment, y'know?

Yeah being in love one can be vulnerable for sure, there's like a quadzillion love songs out there I hope this comes partially close to expressing the 'love' thing, other lyrics can be easier to deliver but when your (one's self) dealing with such a deep feeling/emotion how on earth do you capture that in any form/art without lapsing into gushy cliches, I've tried to in a lil' way here, prolly best not to over explain and just let the track deliver the thoughts as intended.
