Sounding great Dyl, on the religous theme, I guess everyones got their own opinions, I'm currently midway through a short course dealing with theology, what I'm finding intresting is the debates on 'does God exist' folk can get rather heated on that conundrum I've noticed.

Back to the tune Dyl, whatever the inspiration be it 'God given or 'other' as long as there's cool music like this as a result, cool! smiley

Priest = Aura by pharmakeus 6 months ago
This is a brave, bold cover, when you're dealing with Steve Kilbey's otherworldly lyrics and the twin guitars of Willson-Piper and Koppes, it's formidable.

A song taken from a time The Church or rather Kilbey was at the most self destructive, but still produced incredible music although Koppes quit for a while, only to return when things calmed down, and how The Church have thrived ever since.

30 years and counting, a gazillion other projects besides The Church, a band that produces so much stuff to be a completist could easily bankrupt many a fan.

It's cool Kilbey no longer deals with 'My Little Problem'.

Black Sheep-World of Should EP by musikgrl 1 year ago

You'd lived with this song a good time before this version eh? It's fab to hear the completed version here, excellent musicianship, great vocal delivery, industry standard production, what is there not to like about this?

Really it should be picking up radio airplay in my opinion, this stacks up as well as your Tori Amos's, Aimee Mann's and several other higher profile artist.

Let's hope this 'Black Sheep' goes from being an 'underdog' to noticed by a wider auidence, eh?

Fabulous title track to the ep, although 4 songs, hmm 'World Of Should Have Been A Lil' Longer' as a retitle?

Well MissRedd has picked up radio play in the past, it is a lil' criminal with her ablilties/qualifications/enthusiasm she hasn't had the breaks to get futher in the industry.

The gals too modest, and dosen't hear what others hear in her delivery. Now that said the flipside is Missy's in it for the music first and foremost. Of course I'm biased, it's allowed! smiley

Spanish Bombs (The Clash cover) by Dyl 1 year ago
One very happy Kev hearing this! smiley

Ticks all the boxes, Strummer my biggest influence, a great tribute, still cant believe he's gone! smiley

Dyl, John kudos gentlemen you have done a fine cover, you both work fab vocally overlapping with the BV's, love the tiny details you have stayed true to the original like a hint of Micky Gallagher keyboard in there too, the more I listen to this the cooler it gets Dyl's at times 'laid back' delivery is perfect, and John doing a fine Mick Jones, you guys have taken me back to Hammersmith Palais Dec 8th I think 1979 when The Clash where at the peak of their powers and seeing them do their (as was then)new lil'disc 'London Calling' they insisted selling for no mor than a fiver for a double album...

The rest is history that was a great gig that night, right place/right time easily in my top 3 gigs of my life, I do ramble, thank you guys again so much!

Viva el Clash combo, if ever there was a time the world needed a Clash again 2011 the time is now.

The future is unwritten, ignore alien orders, know your rights, what have we got for entertainment? Cops kicking gypsies on the pavement!! smiley
(Latin) Hungry Heart by Dyl 1 year ago
So Dyl when I've done the Monday open mics there is a cool guy named Julian, total Springsteen obsessive, who does his own original stuff too. I had to laugh the other week when he did an acoustic version of 'Like A Virgin' I thought 'hang on... didn't me and Dyl do a version that never saw the light of day?'.

Anyways back to 'Hungry Heart' still knocks me out when I hear this version! smiley

melt away with you by that80sboy 1 year ago

This has only happened once before while listening to a track on iComp (it was one Rhonie did ages ago, I digress), Mark I 'filled up' I just thought... 'okay here we go Mr Koch, doing his fun eighties thing' what I was not expecting was the emotional rollercoaster/dam burst, that ensued.

Sure Mark you've figured this all out, I'm sure your way ahead of me, but you choosing as random lyric 'Melt Away With You' hit me like an iron bar between the eyes, when one of the more memorable pieces of dialogue I've had in real life consisted of 'I want to dissolve like a sugarcube in a hot cup of your tea'.

I've digressed to the n'th degree here, all I know is it's a great track, and it sorta captures the pain of being apart. Mark with your tracks you keep to your mandate, you stick with your strengths, and simply deliver great tracks over and over, in fact playing this again its still a lil' heavy listen but awesome music, after all isnt that the a great piece of music if it emotionally moves the listener? smiley

Ca Plane Pour Moi/Hello There/Auf Wiedersehen (Cheap Trick & Plastic Bertrand Covers) by SteveScott 1 year ago
5

This is pure genius on so many levels, and how the heck did I miss this?

As Mark knows I'm a total Trick obsessive, and I must admit your treatment of 'Auf Wiedersehen' is fun takes me back to the all female Cheap Chick cover of it, and starting with the song have for many a year have used as their 'soundcheck' song 'Hello There' as all the various bits of the band come in one after the other, but I'm sure you knew all this...

But the start with Belgiums finest punk/pop moment is great to hear too, in fact this is crazeeee value for a track crammed full of zallaz fave subject matter and fun pop-tastic moments, you guys could do no wrong in my opinion on this one, super-duper! smiley
Let It Shine by vavsonka 1 year ago

I like the 'lo-fi' 'on the fly' spontaneous feel to the track, it's hypnotic too, and you have your own 'accent' which stamps individuality on this gem of a lil' track, and wow you can hold a note there too gurl! smiley

Super stuff, yes chicks with guitars have been done before, but you make the space your own, and that's cool!

In actual fact as I'm tyoing this and the track progresses I like it more and more, and it is great from the get go! smiley
