Evil or Very Mad Pay Pal has screwed with me before and linking it to my checking account was a big mistake. I swore to avoid them. Now I use them only as a conduit for paying with my normal credit card but for some reason - only at this site - it demands I create a Pay Pal account in order to do this. What gives? I would like to donate to the site but I don't want to create a paypal account and let them hold my credit card information in their untrustworthy hands. Any other way to donate? Can this odd agreement with PayPal be changed or somehow avoided?

If you don't want to use Pay Pal you can use your credit card. The credit car is only processed through Pay Pal. The CC form is to the right of the PP fields.

We do process credit card contributions through Paypal, but you should be able to make a contribution without needing to sign up for a Paypal account.

If you type in an amount and click Continue in the sidebar on the right, it should take you to the Paypal checkout page. If you click the "Don't have a Paypal account?" link in the bottom right, it should work without creating an account.

With that said, if you want to make a recurring monthly contribution, you will need a Paypal account so you can log back in and manage your subscription.

Let me know if this isn't matching up with what you're experiencing. Thank you so much for supporting the site!

OK, thanks. Yes, reoccurring is what I want so that is why they must want me to have an account. Maybe they've changed their ways in the last few years so I'll go ahead and use them.
