I just purchased a second-hand Alesis Q49 USB/MIDI keyboard controller. I have a brand new MacBook Air and I connected the keyboard via the USB cable to my Mac but it doesn't recognize any new devices. The keyboard light does show that it's on.
I've searched the internet but I couldn't find anything.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Yup, It should be plug-n-play. Bought it on Craigslist. I think I got screwed. |

Hi, morkie, do you understand what bigdaddycee is suggesting? About the driver?
A Driver is free software that your computer needs from Alesis to go with your Q49. Go to the Alesis website and search for the Driver that corresponds to the Q49. The Mac version. Download it and install it on your computer. Then try seeing it in the DAW (Garageband?) you are using. |

I have checked their site and also contacted their Tech Support. There is no drive needed. They said the keyboard should be plug-n-play on my Mac. |

perhaps the usb cord is bad.....may supply power but no data....or try another port..... |

Tried another USB cable and different port. Same problem. Also tried connecting it to a iMac. Same problem. I'm starting to think it's a problem with the keyboard and not the computer. |

I found out from the manufacturer that it's probably a problem with keyboard controller. Lessons learned from purchasing on craigslist.com.  |
