I quite often click on an artists's podcast link and all too often I am told that the podcast is not available in the Danish store.
That must be because someone has deliberately chosen not to make it available to the world. I know the same happens to some people in e.g. France so I assume the issue is that the podcasts are setup only for the US iTunes store.
I know big labels often try to control which countries has which items available to them e.g. when release dates are different or the item contains add. But I cannot understand why independent artists here on iCompositions would not want their podcasts available for example to the 800 million people in Europe or the billions in Asia.
The fact that half the podcasts seem to be available makes me think... is this a mistake and are the artists aware that their podcasts are limited to one country? |

When you are trying to access the artist podcasts how exactly are you doing so? Are you selecting the RSS feed, or the iTunes link?
I do know that Apple may not make certain content available in all iTunes stores.
You might find the following interesting. It is from Apples podcast site...
"Not in the Store? Not a problem...
If while surfing the web, you ever come across a podcast that you can’t find in the iTunes Store, here’s an easy way to subscribe to it anyway. From the Advanced menu, choose “Subscribe to Podcast...” and enter the podcast feed URL. iTunes will subscribe you to the podcasts and begin downloading immediately."
You should be able to enter an Artist podcast into your iTunes this way, by using the RSS feed URL. |

I click on the headline of the podcast on my iPad and it opens the iTunes app. And half the links work and half do not. And it is not a matter of trying the same many times till success. They just don't work. I have given up when I am met with this error message and I am sure most people give up.
Note that if you search for a Podcast that does not exist the error message is different. This message means that the item is blocked for your country and I doubt anyone will try and access any other way. People that have a podcast that only works in the US store will have a very limited audience in practical. |

I tested the first one on your list.
I too was getting an iTunes error, stating the podcast was not available in the US store. However, I can get the and listen to the podcast by clicking the RSS link.
Unfortunately, on the iPad, there isn't a way to enter the RSS feed URL, as mentioned in my previous message. However, by opening the RSS feed URL in mobile Safari you can play the contents.
There might, also, be a 'pod catcher' app available within the App store that you can run on your iPad that allows you to paste the RSS URL into it, allowing you to subscribe to the podcast. However, I have not looked to confirm. |

I do not really need to hear these podcasts. I just wanted to make the artists and iCompositions staff aware of the problem so they can have it corrected. Sounds like these podcasts should be removed and re-added. Something must have gone wrong. |

I doubt that the issue is an iCompositions one, rather it looks like an iTunes issue. However, I'm sure that PM will take a look at it, and I will bring it up on iCWeekly today. |

I believe that the links we have for podcasts point to the US store. There don't appear to be universal links, so we can only link to one country's listing. If you use a different country's store, the links won't work. |

@pm that does not explain why only 5 of all the podcasts has the problem. There must be some obvious difference between them. Only few people that are none US has a US iTunes account. So in practical those 5 have their podcast limited to US users only. The fact that the rest work internationally means that there is a way to fix the problem |

Unfortunately, Apple gives us virtually no control over podcasts we submit to the iTunes store. We can only give them the URL... everything else is up to them. |

I went to the iTunes store in several countries in Europe, Africa and Asia and my iCompositions podcast was found in any search.
It was also interesting to find out that it seems that in Algeria, "Yanni Vangelis" is my most popular episode; whereas in Italy, it is "Frank Sinatra". In China, my "One Note" appears first in my search.
I am assuming that the "50 episodes" that iTunes bring back for my "Mungo" search is sorted by popularity. I could be wrong.
BTW, most of the returned podcasts are not mine at all, so I've no delusions that I am more popular than "DJ Mungo", except in China
