Just read the sad news that the legendary keyboard player Jon Lord passed away - age 71.

I personally know Jon Lord for his signature Hammond sound in Deep Purple. His play in "Child In Time" has been a great inspiration for me whenever I chose to add some tonewheel organ sound to my music.

Jon Lord had a long career both as composer and musician in several bands as well as solo.

Jon Lord may not live any more, but his music will live on in many generations to come.

i saw them in bloomington mn met stadium in late summer 1971 - fireball tour ~
when i was very young - when he was rocking and tilting that B3 in his knife-edge performance & antics - i was close to the front , nestled in amongst 4 friends . . . who were ecstatic about attending -
- the front rows of audience were waves of insanity with security fighting to keep people from the stage - Lord came off hammy but he was really humble outside of all this -
it was 2 bucks to witness all three acts uriah heap - buddy miles - and deep purple
- folks rushed into the front doors 5 abreast like mad cattle ( but somehow i got in free anyway)
well as for gillan = folks thought he might do himself in early at certain points - but what a vocalist ! - we rushed to shake paice's hand at the end - they were drenched in sweat.

blackmore is a favorite of mine with his candice night act - nowadays . . . we do many of blackmore's night tunes in a duo thing . . .
