Does anyone use this with Lion ?
I am using the Focusrite since a year now,
and i am very satisfied with the the sound.
But from start there where problems when putting the Computer to sleep. After sleep mode there are distortion problems and i have to replug the USB Connection. Tried USB-Hub, directly connected to the Computer, no way.
Since i upgraded to Lion, there´s another very mysterious effect,
mostly with itunes.
Sometimes the playback is Low, which means the tone is too deep and also the song plays slower ! Like you turn down the speed of a turntable. Wrote that to Focusrite already, but no answer.
Newest Drivers are installed.
What the heck is this ?? |

Andy, I have a focusrite saffire pro 24 connected with a pc through firewire, so i can't help you wwith the mac. the card is getting it's power through the usb connection only?
I have issues too sometimes with players like winamp and others , when the external card is plugged in..
i know the firewire connection is delicate, never touch it otherwise I have to reconnect.
i'd avoid sleeping mode....

I don't allow my harddrive to sleep; the screen, yes, not the harddrive. I leave my Mac (tower) running 24/7. I've always heard (and been told by a Mac tech) to not sleep the system harddrive. Besides avoiding software issues and extending the life of the drive, there are maintenance routines being run by the OS at various times during a 24 hour time period. |

Yes, the Card gets its power from USB.
The problem is, usually when i go to sleep i put the whole Computer to sleep also...
Sometimes i forget to plug out the Focusrite before.
In that case i have to wake up the Mac and then plug out the Focusrite. If i plug it out in sleep mode there will be a crash and i have to restart the mac.
Seems i have to change my habits, and shut down the mac. or let it run all day.
But still, the other "out of tune" problem is kinda strange... |

I had one briefly and took it back. Not that there was anything wrong with it, I was simply doubling up on equipment. I have a tc helicon voicelive 2 and can use that to record with via usb, so as I dont play instruments I didnt need the firewire etc.
I did however have difficulty in getting it to play via my pc, no probs with mac though |

Oh, you got a voicelive 2...
Katja thinks about purchasing one.
Are you satisfied with it ?
I told her also to look for the Voicelive 2 extreme version for just 100 more... |

Maybe the system switches between 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz.?
That is happening with my MOTU828mk3 interface when it wakes up,
The first time I used it was with an add to an comp collar track, I had to retune my guitar slightly. But I liked the faster tempo in that case. |

I am most satisfied with it particularly for live performance. As far as recording with it, its a bit primitive but we get there. I am not sure whether this is the extreme version or not...it has the woman screaming on the box.
Certainly I am attempting things that I would never have attempted before. |

@Spiff1960 I put my computers (4) to sleep and turn them off all the time and have never had a problem with my interfaces (4) What I have seen is upgrading an OS effecting the interfaces and sometimes updates for the bugs fix it but not all the time sometimes it requires updating drivers or going back to old drivers. Lion was extremely buggy from my experience which is why mountain lion seems to me to more of a fix for lion than anything else.
The long way to figure out things is to go back to the original setup (OS) see if that works, if you still hear the same issue, uninstall then reinstall your interface, if you don't have issues well then you know it's something to do with lion.

Thanks for your advices !
I went to the download pages and installed the drivers.
But there was version 2.5 of the driver already installed, i installed it again anyway. The sleepmode - problem still exists, but the tip from Xolv about the sampling 48/44.1 khz was helpful !
@Xolv thanks, that problem is fixed ! |

Spiff - I get the same problem with my Scarlett 2i2 on Windows 7. When my laptop goes to sleep and wakes up, the audio out of the Scarlett is severely distorted and slow.
A simple unplug and re-plug of the USB cable resolves it but it would be nice to not have to do that. |
