The Olympics has had a copyright on their stuff for a long time. It's nothing new for infringers to be reprimanded. Those who get appropriate permission can use the copyrighted images and words. It's the same idea for anything that is copyrighted.
With today's price of running something as big as the Olympics, I'm sure they need all the resources they can find to fund the effort, thus corporate sponsorship. I'm with olympus, I still see the spirit of the event as being the important part. |

Good on you, London, for the most amazing Opening Night ceremony. Beautifully done, full of things that were quintesentially British, from music to comedy to our history and heritage. Loved every second of it. |

I LOVE England! But utilizing two tools like Ryan Seacrest and Michael Phelps in the opening ceremony? Wow... I really hope Phelps' teammate wins. |

Watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Highlights: Croatia wearing rain boots, Independent Olympic Athletes dancing and the Queen parachuting in with Daniel Craig as James Bond. (Also that lighting ceremony was pretty cool).
On a side note, during Paul McCartney's "Hey Jude", where was Swaziland hanging with Switzerland? What about Togo partying with Turkey? And what about Jordan being friendly with Japan? All I got was the UK in white and gold (Cool) and the US (Really Ralph Lauren, putting your logo on the front like that) hanging with themselves... Where was the international camaraderie NBC? I mean, seriously: ♫"na na naaa na. Na na naaa na, hey every country in the world that is internationally recognized!"♩ ♪ |

I don't know who fixed the Queen/Bond sketch, but that was inspired - we were convinced it wouldn't really be her! The Olympic torch was stunning - incredibly clever how it came together. Loved the Mary Poppins characters flying down with their umbrellas. The cycling birds, one of which then takes off across the stadium. And the forging of the Olympic rings in the iron foundry - wow! |

Yep one heck of an Opening Ceremony, possibly the best ever? As it was very 'quirky' and 'leftfield' that ceremony was engaging.
Day One and empty seats! A shame as so many folk eager to go, let's hope if there are unused tickets they can go on sale so everyone who wants to can enjoy the atmosphere of an Olympic Games. |

I loved the quirkiness of it. And great to see a homage to the NHS!
Empty seats is a real slap in the face for all of us who tried to get tickets and were told they were sold out. LOCOG are looking into it - think they're corporate seats. I'm astonished that they didn't move people down into them so that it didn't look so empty. Have managed to get tickets to the paralympics athletics, so I'm looking forward to that. |

Nice pictures. Most Olympians have jobs and train when they can. They give up so much of their life before the games. I love watching the Summer Olympics. May the best athlete, regardless of nation, win gold. |

Yesterday, extra tickets for Football at the Coventry Stadium were put on sale at the ticket office. I will be watching the Women's GB vs Canada match on Friday. |

Great pics, @zallaz!
@zincshed - that'll be amazing, and well done on the tickets.
And, good news - I've managed to win a couple of Day Pass tickets to the Olympic Park, having thought I'd missed the boat in the council ballot. So i'm looking forward to that, having a proper mooch around the area. |
