Tried to select AAC version of song for upload.
Went to my directory where a number of song files are and all m4a file names were grayed out and not available for selection.
I am using Safari Version 6.0 (8536.25) and Mac OS X VERSION 10.8. |

I just checked to see if this was happening to me, too, since I don't think I've uploaded anything here after updating to Lion. Yes, I see the same issue, m4a files are grayed out when trying to select them to upload to iCompositions. Strange. Mp3 files are okay.
I'm using Safari 6.0 and OS X 10.7.4. |

Interestingly enough, I'm not using Safari 6.0 and I do not see the same issue.
I'm using 5.1.4.
Odd. |

I have the same issue and have had it for a while, which is why my latest songs have been uploaded with the mp3 file only
@pm I suggest you remove the accept="audio/mpeg" from the input field for the m4a file. The Macs do not see this mime type as matching aac files. Only mp3 files match this type. You may find a different mime type that works. It is typically the Mac users that will upload AAC files so it probably means hardly anyone uploads AAC files at the moment. Both Safari and Chrome does not allow selecting m4a files at the moment. |

Odd. |
So these statements appears to narrow it down to how Safari 6.0 is handling the song upload page.
BTW, I do not see the problem using FireFox 14.0.1 on Mountain Lion. |

As I said, I have same problem in Chrome, so it is not just Safari. It may be related to mime types in Lion. In have not upgraded to Mountain Lion yet. I had so many problems when I upgraded to Lion so this time I intend to wait until I have seen confirmations that Logic, Native Instruments plugs, Roland sound card, etc etc all work.
It is easy for pm to fix the problem. It makes no sense to have no mime type for the mp3 input field (yes you can upload an m4a file on the mp3 field) but not on the AAC field. |

Just checked the mime types
It is iCompositions that is made wrong
The accept="audio/mpeg" should have been used in the mp3 input field.
The m4a (AAC) should be audio/mp4a-latm
Source http://www.feedforall.com/mime-types.htm
The reason it works for some of you is that it is not all browsers that respect these mime types and it may also be coded into the OS.
But the issue lies with the html in the submission form here on iCompositions. |

Thanks for investigating this, Kenneth! I've made the change you suggested. Could you all verify that it's working properly for you?
Thanks! |

Looks OK here.
The mp3 field now only allows mp3
And the aac field seems to allow m4a (and others).
So for Lion/Chrome and Lion/Safari things look OK.
Glad I could be of help |
