Some people love music in general and don't psycho analyze every song they hear. Other people(me) Analyze every last measure to a song and measure it up.
Is there one song that is greater that all the other? Is there the perfect song somewhere out there? |

The closest thing I've found to a perfect song is "Hotel California". Say what you will...overplayed, yes...cheesy...maybe, but
Great Chord Progression
Superb, well-thought-out Bass Part throughout
Outstanding Lyrics
Amazing guitar solos
Tight, Emblematic Vocal harmonies
Classic Chorus Hook
Can you really argue that? I don't know if it's PERFECT, but it's got AMAZING elements. |

Perfect art is in the eye or ear of the beholder. The art may be perfect to the artist that creates it and yet imperfect to the consumer of that art. For me, the perfect song is the one that I can hear the humanity in. It does not have to have a complicated chord progression or the deepest, most insightful lyrics. If I can hear the humanity in it, than it hooks me. Consider this...some could argue that "Happy Birthday" is the perfect song. |

Happy Birthday is a good song.
Hotel California is actually a fantastic song, i wouldn't consider it THE ONE AND ONLY PERFECT SONG. But it sure as hell is up there as a great song.
I think i'd narrow it done to a select few.
Beethoven's "9th Symphony"
Holst's "Mars"
Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever"
Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor"(the famous one)
And my personal favorate, Alfred Reed's " Russian Christmas Music"
Those are the only songs that at no point do they ever bore me or let me down.
All of them are more than 5 minutes.
I'm not a classical music buff, however those really are great songs. |

Russian Christmas Music is by FAR the best.
Well, certain songs like "Russian Christmas Music" has large parts in it that are relatively boring but that's because it is an acquired taste. However if you wait through it all, all 15 minutes of it you get this Unpresidented melo |
