Hmmm...
My first CD was probably Brothers in Arms, because I believe that it was the first CD to be made. I had no CD player but I had to have it.

My first 45 was Laurel & Hardy's 'Blue Ridge Mountains' (yikes! it's a long story but a lovely song nonetheless). Now, what was my first mp3....???

I can't remember what's the first CD I bought but I remember the first one I heard. It was called: "Viva Santana", their anthology then. I heard "She's not there" and I was blown by the sound. Seems so long ago. I believe it was 1987 or 1988.
My first 45 was "Mi limon mi limonero" a spanish version of a Brazilian hit by Wilson Simonal. I won it in a raffle when I was 7 years old.Smile

Well, it pays to do your homework: The first CD made happened 25 years ago this month. It was Abba's "The Visitors". Alas, I wasn't hip enough to buy it. I searched for that Brothers in Arms and it's nowhere to be found. Sad

Brothers in Arms at one time was the best selling CD ever. Certainly is one of the best sounding albums by one of rock's best acts too!

First vinyl record I ever had was a throwaway 45 my dad gave me to play on my little Fisher Price portable record player. It was Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe". But I also had all those Mother Goose nursery rhymes and Classics Illustrated stories on vinyl too (still remember Treasure Island) and they had music on them too. But let's just say it was Sonny & Cher. And despite that, I STILL love music!!!

oh...now we've expanded to music delivery vehicle history, eh?

Ok...1st 45 was Janice Jopin "Bobby McGee"

1st 8-track...Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon and Garfunkel

1st record album was a Monkey's Greatest Hits (the blue velvet one with the gold album on it) I was five and I called the number on the TV...few days later the delivery man showed up and wanted $5 C.O.D., my mom was miffed!

1st cassette I think it was a green plastic, no-name Rush compilation from another country (bootleg)

1st CD...Red Hot Chili Peppers "Blood Sugar Sex Magic"

1st paid mp3 download...hmmm, it was Pink by Aerosmith or Lights Out by UFO

1st DVD-audio...Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits

1st SACD...Dark Sid of the Moon, Pink Floyd

It's fun to share you're first experiences... So,

1st 45: Blondie, Denis Denise
1st Vinyl: Deep Purple, Live in Japan
1st cd: Sly and the family Stone, Fresh
1st Cassette: James Brown, Greatest Hits
1st Music VHS:AC/DC, Who made who
1st Music DVD:Woodstock, 3 days of peace and music
1st paid MP3: Yet to come..... (NOT!) Smile

It's remarkable how influential this music has been for my taste of music. Or is it how my taste of music influenced my purchase...?
B.t.w. i never owned and i never will own Brothers in arms. I can't stand Knopfler singing. Wink
