Happened on an oldies station on my radio today playing music from the 70's. What? When did the 70's become oldies? Oh well...we all age. Some of you are just starting and maybe "that summer" hasn't happened for you yet, but for many I'm guessing there is one summer that stays in your memory forever. What if we all wrote or covered songs from that summer that were the most important soundtracks for the time. Just a thought...any takers? |

wow Luna for me it was the summer I met Clive Robinson he was lead singer in a band called Sentry and it was love at first sight for me...I was just another adoring female for him. But he did ask me out on a date. He was a surf lifeguard so (cheap *******) took me to the clubrooms the day he was on duty...Vicki was way out of her comfort zone spending the day in a skimpy bikini...but I got to run along the beach in slow motion before baywatch had even made it to the screens
Anyway I ended up dating the lead guitarist in his band...slightly less of an ego. That golden summer when we were all together lasted a year lol I dont recall it being cold at all over that 12 month period. Clive used to hate it when I danced in front of the stage cos it took attention away from him...He did have an incredible voice though...shame he never made it big, he really should have.
Then we all went our seperate ways. The year was 1974 and the song I would probably do would be America's Tin Man cos it was the song Clive did on his first tv appearance...he did a good job but the song is a weak representation of what he was capable of and I believe that was the defining moment. He didnt light up so he was no longer considered. |

@Vixen thanks for sharing gal. I'd have to write a book about all the musicians I've "known". There are times in the 70's that I can't even remember...My song will be called Mimosa Wishes. A single night spent beneath a Mimosa tree in full bloom and a teenage girl also in full bloom with a awe inspiring beauty of a guy that started with an interesting story... |

@Vixen I don't think I "knew" any musicians who were on the verge of being famous. But then I can't be sure. |

Twitch by Ministry introduced me to geek love and I forever became fascinated with the other side of norm. It was the second encounter with those female aliens and I was just a tad year older veering on teens but it was the one to remember cause it was a horrifying experience... well, hindsight.... |
