You can automate the fade in on the individual track or in the master track itself. If i remember my garageband well enough, There is a button in the control panel part of the instrument track, that when you click it, a pull down menu shows up. It gives you the option to edit the volume or the panning. Click on the volume. The automation editor should appear, then you move your cursor to the part where you want the sound to be reduced, just drag the line to your preferred volume level. You can create markers along the line so that when you move the line up or down, any part before a particular marker will not be affected.

You can also try 'ducking' Or compression. I think garageband has a built in feature on this except i cant remember anymore how to do it. Havent used GB in a while so.... Hope this helps ms, V. Smile

Just click on a particular part of the line. A dot on the line should appear, thats the marker. Youre welcome ! Smile

In Garageband you will have two different ways to easily fade; On a track basis, or as a whole. The methods are virtually the same.

If you wish to fade a specific track, among multiple, you will need to select the tack in question and then click the small drop arrow (to the right of where the track descriptor is) and make sure that you are looking at the 'track volume'. Next, you move to the area where you wish to begin your fade. Then click on the shaded area below - the volume area - below the actual track information, where the volume info shows up, to create a start point. Then you will click the point in the track - in the same area - where you wish your fade to end. After creating the start and end points, select the end point and drag it down to the level where you wish you fade to end.

The creation of the start and end points are the same whether it is individual track, or if you are using the Master Track. To see the master track you will need to select 'Show Master Track' from the 'Track' menu.
