Now that you've had a chance to play with it and get a feel for its strengths and weaknesses, what sort of features would you like to see in the next version?

(I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive - I'm having to survive on listening to other folks' contributions.)

A staff and notes for real editing and composition. Although they will probably wait until GB 2.0 to implement it.

I would like to see it possible to sustain a loop after it is done playing.

Like pulling the loop from the bottom right would sustain the sound from the loop without repeating the loop. This way the loop doesn't sound like it is getting cut off.

A tuner. It really really really needs a tuner.

But you can have a tuner in GB, it just doesn't come with it. GB can use all standard VST plug-ins, including tuner plug-ins. It's possible Apple may include one in the next version, but the ability to have a tuner is already there.

As far as a tuner goes you can download a free one that works with Garageband and Logic here http://www.emagic.de/support/download/gt.php?lang=EN.

As far as features that I would like to see in the next Garageband or even an update is the ability to change the tempo of individual loops. Not all songs keep the same tempo. I'd like to see some more prefrences. I'm not sure what there could be but I kinda feel like their isn't enough control over GB in the prefrences department.

Although I still don't have my copy of GB yet, it seems to me that you could overcome the problem of multiple tempos (and meters) in a song by creating two different songs with different tempo (or meter) and stitching the two mp3s together. Not as flexible as one would like, of course, since you have to step out of GB to do it, but do-able.

2. Midi export.
3. Drum grid editing.
4. Pattern/drum sequencer.
5. Optimized performance.

I would just make a new track with the same loop, tweak that track's settings to have serious reverb and then play the loop from that tweaked track as the last instance of that loop. Trails off gradually for me.

Original loop no reverb
O----O----O----

Tweaked reverb loop
-----------------O

If it gets cut during exporting, turn on the loop feature (yellow bar) and drag it to cover the whole song plus a few extra measures at the end. This ensures the export inserts blank space at the end to let effects die naturally.

#1 for 1.1 for me: An easy way to move individual tracks or regions from one composition to another. It would be downright sweet if I could have two GB files open at the same time and drag-&-drop between them.

Wow, that's a huge avatar. Would you mind shrinking it a little? It's just like...obnoxiously large. Maybe I'm OCD or something.

Xaqtly,

I don't think GB does VSTs. I haven't tested it, but nothing Apple makes currently can take VSTs. Anyway, that AU tuner from emagic should work fine.

I would like to have in the editing window a feature that lets you scrub like in Final Cut to make better edits. Software loops are easy to edit but real sound waves are hard to edit.

Scrubbing would be nice.
