I'm on my second (and last) TASCAM 122 digital interface. It (like the first I owned) has gone DEAD (no USB light comes on). The iMac can't read its presence (yes, the software is installed).
Any clues before I throw it in the river.
Thanks in advance. |

If you have tried to restart your computer, taken the USB thing out and tried to blow away some dust, then I have nothing else to say. My Mac has not recognized it a couple of times, but all I have to do restart, usually. |

Does the same USB port on your computer work for another USB device?
I recently had a Firewire port "go bad" and found out that if I reset the PRAM, the problem was cured.
Don't know if the same would help a USB port, though stands to reason it would. |

This happened to me. That's because I tried my device on my laptop which apparently is still a mac like my desktop but not compatable with the tuscam 122. So maybe try it on a different computer, unless ur using it on the same computer u were using it on before.. then u have a different problem. but that was mine! |

Boot up the mac.
Delete the preferences files. You'll find them in Library/garageband I think (I'm not on the mac at the moment).
Start GB (or Logic or whatever). Go to preferences and you should be able to set the 122 to be your audio input again.

I'll give it a go. The Tascam doesn't show up in SOUND system folder either - it's nowhere....... But I'll give it a shot.
Thanks. |

I've got the new (2006) iMac and can't find any GB preferences that would be deletable (can't get to GB in library)... but the 122 is not showing up in SOUND nor in GB 'advanced' preferences.
USB light still not on. Mic plugged into 122 turned all the way up with phantom power light on - no response (no sig / peak lights). Nothing.
The USB ports are all good.
I think the problem is in the 122.
Care to keep trying, gents?
Thanks in advance. |

Ok, back on the mac - the prefrences files are in <user> / library/preferences/com.apple.garageband.cs and .plist
Delete both of them (if you're paranoid like me then make copies before deleting them -) )
hth

Call Tascam, They have a great Tech Team. And They might help get a few bugs out of the Mac and or the 122.

Get ascams USB driver. If any Software came with the gear it probably has the drivers or other elements that might be missing. Do a re-install after uninstalling. And Like I said call TASCAM. |

OK
ALL FIXED UP!
It was the driver. With the new iMac dual Intel thingie, the original software that came with 122 didn't work no' mo'.
Simple DOWNLOAD of newer driver from TASCAM website.
