Well, it seems to be the time of year for it, so here goes...
Welcome to Chinese Whispers! It's a simple game.
Artist #1 (Let's call him Bob123) writes and records a song. Bob123 sends this to artist #2, etgilles (hi et!), who does a cover of it. Etgilles sends his version to me - ponkey - and I do a cover version of that. Here's the thing, though - I've never heard the original by Bob123. I pass my own version on to the next person, and so on and so forth until we have ten or more versions, each a little different than the previous round. Eventually we reach the end of the line and then - hey presto! - we all release our songs at the same time, and get to listen and find out how the song progressed and changed and got mangled up in the process.

Just a few simple rules: once we get started, each artist gets one week to do their version. Once you finish, you are responsible for getting in touch with the next person in the line to pass your version on. Don't ask for, and don't tell, anything about the music or lyrics. Just use your ears and fill in the gaps with your imagination. Don't release, or otherwise let anyone else here hear your song, until everyone's done. Be patient! This may take three months or even longer to finish.
One more thing: we will need an original song to start off with. If you have a song that you have never played to anyone here at iComp, and you want to get the ball rolling, give us a wave!

Excellent! Maybe we can find a few more people... (the more the merrier in this game, but over ten is a good starting number!).
Anyway, I'd like to propose a scheduling system. Sign up for one of the weeks below - that will be your time to do your cover and pass it on. If you want to provide the original song, don't sign up for a time slot - just let us know that you will be going first, and when you will be done recording!
February - maybe too soon to start, considering we don't have an original yet? Let's leave it open for now, just in case.
March 2nd-March 8th
March 9th-March 15th
March 16th-March 22nd
March 23rd-March 29th
March 30th-April 5th
April 6th-April 12th
April 13th-April 19th
April 20th-April 26th
April 27th-May 3rd

So that's ten slots to play with for now... yes, this is a rather long term project, but such is the nature of the beast. Sign up for a slot now, and if you change your mind later on you may be able to reschedule (ask other people nicely and they might switch with you!).
