One of my all-time favourite ABBA tracks, given my customary orchestral styling:

Thought I'd show all you guys what I've been up too the past few days. This is still a work in progress and it's planning on being up to 10 minutes long when it's finished.

The song is very ambient at first but listen all the way through and you'll probably hear some new stuff you've never heard before. This is the first two movements. The Hybrid and then Gear Avenue. Enjoy.

Stephen.

Painted For Free is a song that Stan Loh (Lagusaya2) sent me as a simple song and acoustic guitar track. After a few listens I decided that it was about time to put Stan in a more aggresive musical expression, while still maintaining the beautiful melody. The lyrics are a protest against the way man polutes our world and cut down the forests.

I start the song off with a little string harmony, followed by a verse with simple acoustic guitar, bass, a few synth notes. And then I add a Les Paul slightly distorted playing arpeggiated chords and a wonderful 80s Abbey Road drum kit.

It is followed up by a bridge with a very difficult structure with several beat breaks. A challenge for both vocalist and drummer but it has a cool effect. And this is where we get really upset about mankind and start roaring with a very distorted guitar playing power chords.

Then a long guitar solo and finally the last verse. It is a long song at low tempo, but don't give up early. It builds up strong and it is interesting to hear Stan's voice stretching out more than we are used to with the heavy arrangement

Stan, we will do a heavy metal track with you one day Wink
