Hi guys,
Now I am a big Pearl Jam fan and found this video on Youtube of one of their new tracks, Unthought Known, a track from their album Backspacer that I love...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFRQIEv6mC0&feature=youtu.be
So what is so interesting, it is just another video of a band playing live on stage isn't it??
Well yes, but the whole video was filmed on a MacBook with a webcam, basically some bloke just wondered around the stage with his laptop, doing this video in one complete take, no editing. The video is really nothing ground breaking, but it is interesting to see big bands like Pearl Jam exploring new tech and relatively low-cost ideas to produce their videos.
Interestingly, the video is credited as Wes C Addle - Director and Bernard Shakey - Concept.
Wes C Addle (West Seattle) is Eddie Vedder himself and Bernard Shakey is a pseudonym commonly used by Neil Young who is good friends with the PJ guys!
We all make videos using our laptops and web cams etc, so it is interesting to see bands who have access to big budgets opting for the low budget option... and the video is pretty good quality as well... |

Interesting that they also show the 'photographer' at work with his macbook. ( The band calls him Kevin ) while doing the shoot of the above

The shooting of the shooting is done slightly more professional, while the sound is much worse.
Now theres got to be a shooting of the shooting of the shooting too. |

LOL. This reminds me of the video "The Making of 200 Motels".
200 Motels is a film by Frank Zappa about making a film about how touring in a rock band will make you go crazy. In the film, the director and composer are played by Zappa, Zappa (as Larry the Dwarf) is played by Ringo Starr and there is also a stuffed puppet version of Zappa that makes appearances. |
