If I had the time I'd explain more
If I had time I'd tell you you make 3 guitars sound like 6
If I had time I'll you how it was mixed
If I had the time I'd do a lot of things
If I had the time, I'd hope you'd enjoy this song
If I had time I'd figure out who the singer is talking to (there's only one of us in the room, but about 5 personalities in Surak's head, guitar player, bassist, singer, engineer, hmm might be one of his dogs)
(repeat, lather, rinse)
3 rhythm guitars
1 lead
1 bass
1 set of drum loops
3 vocal tracks
I don't actually have any more time to fix this thing today, so hope yall enjoy

got to love the 60's style almost do-wap bridge lol

Hey, I can understand the words more in this one. smiley I love the way you roll out the words, though -- very cool.

I really like the groove in this. The beat you have going with the drums and guitars here is really drivin'. Unfortunately, I'm not technical enough to give any ideas for improvement. It may sound a bit muffled...er...that's not the right word. Are you using GB4? I'm wondering if it's the difference between 24-bit and 16-bit recording. Or maybe it's my ears or speakers; I'll be listening to this song some more and I may find out I'm just messed up. smiley I read something about using the equalizer to filter out lower frequencies which we don't hear but apparently can muddy a mix?

Anyway, besides my rambling, this song already ranks up there as a favorite for me!

I think I know what Obie's talking about, but it's been a feature of your stuff for a while now; I've been assuming that it's a deliberate attempt to recreate the dark, quiet sound of 70s rock, since you've produced much brighter stuff in the past.

So go on, how do you make three rhythm guitars sound like six? Pan and delay enough to trick the ear via the Haas effect?

no delay or echo is use on the guitars, you want to keep them dry panning and EQ... dark sound... yeah I've been mixing this way since last year or so

Sorry I came so late to the party my friend! I am so sorry.

Love this track. Lots and lots of fun. Excellent riffing. EXCELLENT bass level! smiley

Reminds me a lot of the swagger of David Lee Roth in Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher"- one of my very favorite VH tunes (and it's with him and not Hagar-- I love Hagar).

Lead solo is great-- BUT-- it could be a little more prominent. JUST a little though.

My overall feel is that this is overly compressed because everything is so loud. I know I know, it's a loud ROCK song... but I remember the comments on Ignoramus' Metallica forum post, and I get the feeling that this one could be a tad overly compressed.

BUT-- this is a killer tune and a lot of fun to listen to. smiley
