This is the third and final movement of a concerto for solo clarinet and string orchestra.

I've remixed this (and will also re-mix the other movements) as I as never happy with the mixing of the entire piece. There's a lot of music here and I want to do it justice!

It reminds me of several British composers (Howells, Finzi, Vaughan Williams, Ireland) of the mid-20th century. It's decidedly melodic, hymnal and tonal. If I had to put a label on it, I would call the entire concerto,'neo-romantic'. The entire concerto in total is about 25 minutes long.

Instrumentation: Solo Clarinet in A, Violin I, Violin II, Viola I, Viola II, Celli I, Celli II, Double Bass I, Double Bass II

Beautiful, my most talented friend. I've grown so much musically by just listening to your performances. I'm blessed to know a person of your musicianship. Thank you for a year of JOY!

Lots of movement gives it a rather restless feeling. So many octave jumps in the clarinet kind of take away from the melodic flow, IMHO. I'd like to hear this on more sophisticated software, or played by a real player, though. Perhaps realistic phrasing and breathing would provide the phrases that my ear craves by about 1/3 through. Nice balance between you solo clarinet and the backing strings.

This is so cool !

And so perfect for the clarinet - I can hear the clarinet melodic line in three discrete strata: chalumeau to clarion to altissimo - displaying the full scope of the instrument and almost in conversation with itself.

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo.

Writing as I listen... Hmmm... Somewhat weak opening, I think. Not my favorite movement, so far. I am not detecting a recurring motif. For a finale, this movement is rather uninteresting, in my honest opinion. Ah well. Nice try, but this one just doesn't seem as special and interesting as the other two; after the more sweepingly beautiful first two movements, I was expecting this to be in stark contrast. But I guess not. Nice return to a previously established motif towards the end, though. Overall, this concerto is a good piece of work, but this movement is definitely my least favorite.
