Just having some fun today and came up with a little spacey electronic jig. The Moonbeam synth kind of reminded me of old 70s Doctor Who music. (Not the theme; the weird, synth incidental music they had.) I was going to do more with the song, but I kind of like it as it is.

Used some mandolin and drum loops. I played the synths with GarageBand's keyboard typing. The fiddle loop which I cut and processed and toyed with came from a collection of freebies at http://www.efiddler.com/ . There's a sonic screwdriver in there somewhere, too, I think.

I really do enjoy when artist take chances and make something different and based on what they hear in their head. I like it great sonic tweaks I hear jumping out every now and then and the sounds you got to work together just amazing.

I love Doctor Who, and have been following the new episodes since 2005 religiously.

This music definitely strikes me as the background music from the older show, while scouring a foreign planet (that looks a lot like Earth). smiley

Didn't like the percussion, the rest worked well.

Bass line?

Sort of Irish Dr Who smiley there's a joke in there somewhere.

I agree with Mick Reeves. The percussion/drum part doesn't really work. The rest of it sounds great. If you can get a bodhran loop, something like this:

...it would sit in the mix much better.

Here's a real master of this wonderful drum - John Joe Kelly:

A bodhran would work well here. I didn't have something like that at the time. I do like the raucus percussion sound, though, so would probably leave in something with the bodhran to keep the smash, smash, smash feel, but work it all together.

Thanks for listening and the ideas!
