Funky Trip Through My Mind

I had the opportunity to listen to one of the best guitarists on iComp, bluesman Anders007 http://www.icompositions.com/artists/anders007. If you haven't heard him, pop over you won't be disappointed.

I approached Anders about playing on a rough draft of a tune I had made after listening to Voodoo Soup by Jimmy Hendrix. Anders agreed and without me mentioning Hendrix, broke out into some amazing solos that did more than I expected. I created a "moog" guitar on the ES2 and played that in the middle of the piece. Anders turned it into a Call and Response which is so Psychadelic that I cringe every time I hear it. Anders was on the same wavelength.

What followed was months of tinkering and production, getting the levels correct etc. I thought we had it right in August, but there were a few glaring errors that had to be corrected.

We thought about looking for a drummer, but it took 8 months to get this out and it probably would have taken longer if we added more people.

As it stands, we hope that you enjoy this piece.

Performed and Written: Ricky Waterman and Anders007.

RW: Keyboards, EMU X-Board 25 Keyboard, ES2 Synth, Rhythm Guitar.
Anders007: Screaming Lead Guitar.

I love it...
My most enjoyment of this tune is the part of working towards a goal of getting more adept at engineering.
Ricky your in completely the correct headspace here...........
Like everything else, the more you do, the better you become.
1) Listening - being able to spot problems and heading them off at the pass.
2) Knowing - what you want, and the shortest route to get there.
3) Common Sense - will get you farther than the manual.
4) Remember - Crap In ⢠Crap Out, fixing crap audio CAN'T be done!

Horns section - Really Killer
Drums - Excellent beat, not lost in the mix
Bass - a little too much out front for me and to much roll.
Synth - Wow knock my socks off...
Guitar Lead - Just killer

So I give it all the stars for a good healthy pat on the back for a Awesome production.
Remember... It's all opinion, You listen to what you tell you and what you feel in your gut.

Do MORE!

Your Pal

Wow, thanks everyone.
Geo, your advice was priceless and I'm greatly appreciative for your words and support.
B, thank you kindly for your support. A quick note, the horns were looped, but I also added to them from the ES2 Logic Express synth.
Darryl, thank you kindly.
Ruby, thanks. I'm really appreciative.
Robin, Thank you and welcome to iComp. I appreciate your words.
Pharm, "cheesy organ?" mmgh, seriously though, thanks for the words.

Quite nice. I can't think of an example of the horns being as nicely applied. All fresh sounds to me.
Dig that powerful but under control guitar.
