A cover (original by the Police). I remember getting a book of Police songs out of the town library shortly after I had started playing guitar, back in the mid-90s, and discovering that it was full of jazz chords - so I didn't learn any of them and had this idea fixed in my head that Police songs were prohibitively difficult to play. A few weeks ago I looked up Roxanne online and it was less fiendish than I remembered; I have been working from there.

The only reason I started recording this cover was that I wanted to be able to play along to the bass line as I practiced. I then thought it might be a useful exercise in production, having just upgraded from GB2 to GB '09 - there are a lot of new features for me to learn. So any comments on the production of this would be very welcome!

I used one drum loop, added some drum sticks over the top, a couple of guitars, pianica and a really horrible sounding bass line done on guitar and dropped down an octave. I know, I know. I promise that I will buy a real bass guitar one of these days.

the beginning thru first verse has on out-of-time feel between the parts, mostly in the fake bass, you have this almost perfect otherwise. the instrumentation is sweet, the drum sticks are a tad in-my-face, vox & progresssion are great

Very cool cover of a great song. Done with bags of personality and style.

Yeah, I have to admit that the bass on this sounds horrible enough that it meets my criteria for "however much I like your song overall, I never want to listen to it again." Thanks for your comment on the drum sticks, randolf - I made the amateurish mistake of keeping them at the same volume throughout, rather than dropping them down low after the intro part (which I think sounds okay).

Is the sound clipping/distorting on anyone's system? I was a bit worried about that. Mastering and compression works very differently on this version of GB than on my old one.

Nice laconic delivery. Like a smoke-filled Pink Floyd listening party.

no cliping here, sound quality is very good. Vocals are nice. I have no problem playing bass on your tracks, just give me buzz.

I like Neumuzik's comments about a pink floyd listening party, that is pretty funny...
