Adagio for Clarinet and Piano is a very slow, capricious piece, in 4/4 time with intermittent triple meter tempo. In composing the Adagio for Clarinet,
I strived for a low, mysterious, barely audible humming sound introduced by the clarinet and engaged by the piano in an intimate, leisurely, playful instrumental dialogue, analogous, perhaps, to a dark figure in a trench coat under a lamp-post on a hazy moon-lit night, engaged in a thoughtful soliloquy, and a Gauloises cigarette.

Beautiful! From what you write, I assume you composed this piece. Do you also play these instruments? This is lovely.

Very well played...I find it hard to place this music--which is a good thing. I have to go way back to Hindemith or Reger or even farther back to Brahms. A Germanic heritage here. Lilting themes, nice intervals. A nicely controlled composition, and nicely composed as well. Welcome to iCompositions, Mary!
