You saw him play live, yes? I think that I remember you talking about him before. The lyrics are masterful and poetic. If I had never heard you before then I wish that this was the first track because I know that I would be as much as a fan of you as I am now (after 6 years). These 'creations' of yours come from equal parts mad scientist, swift magician, orchestral conductor and vaudevillian veteran. A dance to remember.

This is why I like Waits. Diamonds in rough, with space, complex-ly simple. A great delivery on all instruments and vocals.

i like this. it's like i'm having a dream about a dark, twisted mardi gras in new orleans. makes me feel like there's alligators hiding in the reeds waiting to eat me, and evil clowns circling around me on little tricycles with terrifying painted faces, playing mean tricks on me. how deliciously devious.

Very cool. Sounds like Tom Waits doing a soundtrack for a Spaghetti western. I particularly love the chorus-- the organ part (or is that a synth?) and the guitar solo remind me a lot of The Band.

Wow, I really enjoy this song! Your vocals are so unique and brilliant. I love the transition into the organ and the solo electric guitar. The plucking sounds and the waltz tempo give it an eerie tone, like some one's slowly creeping up to you. Wonderful song.

Wonderful "wide" stereo and recording quality...
Crystal crisp and clear...
What kind of mic setup? Any tricks? he he...
the space and airiness of the whole shabang!
Just fantastic!
Actually almost too sharp on your voice on some top volumes?!
Music is great too! Is that Tom Waits crying in the corner?

Very dark song Dyl! I hadn't heard the original either but immediately was reminded of the style of Tom Waits. I loved the arrangement, especially the Ukelele but found the guitar solo went on a bit long.
Great sound quality. What interface are you using?

Matt, very simple : using a USB Samson condenser mic for all acoustic instruments and vocals, directly to GarageBand, and i plug my guitars and bass into a M-Audio Fast Track...Then i spend a little time on adjusting tones of the whole stuff...and especially the "where to put the mic to get the sound i need" question. That's it !
