I was listening to some old garageband files today and came across this piece. I made it in 2006. Apparently, I threw a bunch of piano loops up, turned on the microphone, and started to sing. The lyrics and melody are pure improvisation and you can tell this because every once in a while I search for the right note. I obviously had no idea what was coming next, musically.

The lyrics tell the story of a lonely woman who, instead of embracing life by getting over some heartbreak, chooses to spend her life waiting for things to get better. The lyrics could use a good working over and yet I decided to post this as is. It is, after all, what improvisation is all about: Unedited, off the cuff performance with no idea what's coming. This is singing without a net! I managed to figure out what all the lyrics are, and have posted them for you. Enjoy!

OK add you to my list of favorite artists. This is magic. What a beautiful voice, unfiltered, just truly beautiful. The simplicity of the music matches perfectly some truly profound lyric writing.

Mike -- thank you very much!

Vixen -- Since I moved I've had a very difficult time finding a way to record. I was looking through old songs when I found this one. I knew it needed to be redone, but decided to post it anyway. I will have a little time to record in August, and that's why I was trolling old songs. I found a couple of pieces that might be ok with some work.

ShadowofNine -- thank you!

LunaBleu -- wow, thank you! I'm honored to be added to your list of favorites. And such kind words, thank you!

toveco -- thank you, Tom, what a lovely thing to say!

Baboon -- I hadn't thought about Eleanor Rigby, but you're right. It does have that sort of feel. And absolutely you can cover this. I can't wait to hear what you do with it.

Joanna - Thanks to Baboon posting a link to this in chat today, I got to hear this and have this great experience... I am one of those who also loves improvisation and not knowing what comes next. I really enjoyed going on this journey with you. Really effective and evocative - the mood is really strong and shoots tendrils into your soul. Great!

Thank you Carla and Jester, I'm so happy you found the song and were kind enough to let me know what you thought. It's always fun to know there are others out there who are fans of improvisation, even though it isn't as polished and perfected as most projects.
