The original version of this song by zallaz and lillichi was the second song I ever heard on icompositions. It really grabbed me. I love the lyrics, I think Lillichi writes great, deceptively simple lyrics. It's a wonderful idea for a song that everybody can relate to. I liked zallaz's quirky track a lot too.

I intended to do a mix of the original elements but somewhere along the line I got carried away and ended up with new guitars, bass and reprogrammed drums. I had a lotta fun working on this. My worry is that my insatiable pop sensibility has made me lose the quirkiness of the zallaz's original track. I promise that I'll get back to mixing an original track version.

The guitars were recorded via Motu 828 into Logic Pro 7 on my laptop and then I mixed it in my studio (Logic Pro 7, dual 1.25 gig G5 etc. www.beat360.com for more gear details)

Darn... remixes confuse me... guess I'm a purist... I would never 'touch' my photos on Adobe. Now, having said that, this sounds really really really good!!!! I like the keyboards... and the guitars... and other parts... awesome production.
Thanks!

marksaund Artist thanks woodguy. it's a great concept for a song and a great lyric. the original version is very hooky and stuck in my head after one listen so I was very happy to get to play around with it. I love re-working tracks, finding new chord structures to fit an existing melody. I usually don't listen to something a lot after I just finished it but I think I played this mix more times in a row than anything else I ever worked on...seriously.

The first time I heard this, I had no idea how much had changed from the original (...I didn't even realize there WAS an original version). Now that I've heard the original I can really hear how Mark is all over this. Fabulous stuff. Hopefully you can find time to contribute more to all the great talent on iComp... trust me, there are a lot of great people here.
