OK so this tune is probably kitsch.

I started off trying to make a slow rock and roll tune in the style we know from Mark Knopfler. But it ended up sounding more like the melody the hired keyboard player plays between the roast and the ice cream.

"Does this song sound too kitsch", I asked my beloved wife Diane.

"Yes"

So I worked on it for another night. "How about now?"
"Still too kitsch."

So I worked on replacing all the tunes. Changed the guitar strumming. Changed drum kit for something harder.

"Now?"

Diane looking at the bird feeder just outside our living room window: "It is scaring the birds away!"

So I gave up. Let it be kitsch then! I continued adding more instruments, adjusted the themes, added the rusty pipe instrument that I built in Logics sculpture plugin. Maintaining the nice kitsch sound.

All I needed was a title and a photo. After a while I found what I needed searching for "kitsch" and "cow".

I like the result myself. I hope some of you will as well.

The Vintage Kitsch Cow Notecard Set is for sale on Amazon for 18 dollars. My song ... is for free. Enjoy.

PS: No I did not buy one for my mother-in-law.

I quite frankly wouldn't care what you call it. I call it beautiful music. Very well thought out..production quality kid gloved.. mellow and cheerful..I hope 2012 is listening and adapts to the peace which flows from the soul of this piece. Wonderful

@TvRicky you made my morning. I read your comment in bed on my iPad. Then read it loud to my wife next to me. Sticking my tongue out: "Take that woman! In your face! HA!". We had a good laugh about that.

So it was worth the upload after all.

@BrainTree. Yeah that synth sound is cool. I will use that again in some completely different context. It is a channel strip setting I found for the Logic Sculpture synth which I changed to a more smooth variation. It sounds almost like blowing over a rusty iron pipe full of dust. It is a fantastic synth to explore sounds with. I bought one of the Macprovideo training videos to learn how all those strange controls work.

Excellent orchestration, Kenneth - love the drip-drop sounds you have in the background, and a solid production throughout. I personally think you're underselling the song with the title! I nearly didn't listen to it!

@ihussain Yes by the reactions I surely undersell the song. I am glad I decided to continue polishing it and adding the sculptured rusty pipe sound and the theme it plays. It lifted the tune up in quality.

@RedthruNthru I am glad I put a smile on your face. That should always be the first quality any good music should give. I still laugh at your Woman 101 song. Do not miss my song Ill As Only A Man Can Be http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=172294 It may not be a great piece from an instrumental point of view but the lyrics click well with the 101 song.

Happy new year too all. I do not think my next piece will be ready before the new year party. It will be a jazz piece in 7/8 in F minor and with parts improvised. So completely new territory for me.

Perhaps a little sappy but not too bad. You have enough variety to make it interesting. It has a solid and catchy enough of a melody to keep me listening. I think it's bordering on being too long. A rule is the cuter the song the shorter it should be! smiley Novelty songs should always be short! But your song is catchy! Good job.

there is something very folksy about this, like it might be based on a northern European folk song...my Oma was from hamburg, and i can imagine listening to this on one of her radio programs when i was a kid.

I can see this piece as a soundtrack theme in a movie like Ferris Bueller's Day off or a more current quirky film like the wonderful New Zealand flick, Eagle vs.Shark.

Like others here, this song makes me feel good and I find it to be VERY visual full of sunshine and happy endings.

I like how you relented and allowed this piece to evolve as it wished. Sometimes songs demand to be written as THEY see fit. This seems to be one of them.

Magical.
