A fusion of jazz and classical with a latin twist. The time signature is 7/4 and the key is F minor. The instrument line up is: Piano, drums, upright bass, violin and cello ensemble, trumpet, and English horn. So not a very traditional jazz line up.

It has a melancholic but still very bright mood.

Some of the melody lines were built from many sessions of improvisation over a guide melody line, where I picked the best takes. I am very happy with the result myself and I hope many of you will enjoy the listen.

Hey, Kenneth - this is great. One of your best, in my opinion - really different from your other pieces, in both genre and style. I love the 7/4 thing - wow, I've been counting, just to make sure, and it really IS. Bravo. Love the English horn at the end especially. You're right, despite the F minor key the overall feel of the piece is upbeat.

A really good fusion of styles. There is so much to listen to and yet it doesn't feel overly busy - everything has its place and works well together.

A most enjoyable ride my friend, love that anticipation in the piano, strings swaying, wonderful melody glides in a porposeful manner that adds a regal flava...I also love the 7/4...most excellent indeed... smiley smiley smileypeace

The only music that is in 7/4 is Pink Floyd's money, it is not an easy time signature for a musician (I have count, there is actually 7 bars), usually used in progressive rock smiley I have very much enjoyed your music Kenneth smiley

I think this works great in 7/4 time. However just a small point the left hand piano sounds quantised and so mechanical. Flowing bass lines in 7/4 is going to be a challenge I know but it's so precise. It does let ones mind wonder into new realms and the rhythm is subconsciously evocative. Great piece

The 7/4 is very tasty and your choice of instrumentation is very interesting, particularly the English Horn. But it all works very well together. Nice job!

Well done, sir! You've inspired me to execute takes over a guide melody. It sounds so simple, and it leads you to a long, improvisational piece. (I'm not going to ask how many takes!)

@ihussain I agree. It is the best I have done yet. Or at least the one I am personally most proud of. In a year when my keyboard skills have improved I may return to it and make a faster place improvisation.

@thsantac Yeah there are few western things in 7/4 or 7/8 but they exist. And maybe more common as signatures within progressive pieces. I can count some 7 beats in Mike Oldfields Tubular Bells and you may notice that I partly quote the well known theme in the 2nd section of the piece a few times with the strings.

@toveco the result of the piano work sounds better than it really is but that is hard work and patience. I am not yet able to play such a piece with both hands at the same time and I am reworking the midi afterwards. But that does not worry me. I started learning keyboard in July 2011 and I am not yet having a teacher or mentor. So being able to do what I do goes further than what I had ever imagined when I started. And at the same time I am learning scales, harmony, Logic Pro, mastering etc etc.

@PaulWilkins yes the left hand is quantisised. I played the chords with my left and then tweaked and fiddled. I need to learn to not be too perfect and leave behind some human feel. It must be the engineer that influence the musician. I will remember this input next time. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming. That is how I get better.

@Deebeesea So there are TWO Dianes from Quebec that likes my music. The other being my sweet wife smiley

@Mosaica @soulima @theironsaul @Morris @abzwork @StevenJackson @TvRicky @Kw8zzy8s @jibes @KCsGROOVE @pharmakeus @grathy @lifeaftersix @maglasser I am so happy that you all liked this piece. It motivates me to continue experimenting
