Viking Raga. Inspired by Indian raga music with sitar and Indian percussion. But interpreted with a foundation in rock and techno with electric guitar, lots of percussion, synth. It is more rock than raga but the raga inspiration is there and influence the music very strongly.

Fot the music theory interested the song is in the key of D-flat in Lydian mode. First half is straight lydian with a D-flat pedal but then I start playing with simple harmonics. If you really listen I have hidden some small short chords played by the sitar.

I dedicate this track to Iqbal (ihussain), as a thank you for all the fantastic music you share with us smiley

Very nice rock tune.
It is original but accessible and catchy.
As you say more rock than raga but probably of appeal to world beat fans.
I cn not point out anything you could have done to make it better, but could think of many ways you could have destroyed it. Thanks for sharing

WOW! Kenneth, this is just amazing - and not just because of your lovely kind gesture to dedicate the piece to me, which has really touched me. This is my favourite piece of yours - i say that with each new piece you put up! Really unusual fusion sound to this, good strong use of sitar throughout, a very moody feel thanks to the Lydian mode (like you, I am amazed at how different a feel one can produce from just using the white notes (predominantly) with just a different tonic note to set them off). This was stunning - I loved the roaring electric guitars when they came in, and that wonderful synth pad you use at the end in the arpeggios, that was very me! smiley

So the Vikings land in Afganistan in 1030 AD and this is what they got down to?

I can dig that, Ken...

Cool job.

AcidArachnid Artist I like that the composition is experimental but still catchy. Your way of melding world music with rock/electronic aesthetics reminds me of Secret Chiefs 3 (though their music is based more in a Middle Eastern philosophy/instrumental approach), whose music I highly recommend.

@ihussain I am so happy you liked it. I was so much looking forward to your reaction and hoped I had not gone too far with the Indian element. Real raga players study the arts for decades before they think they are good enough. I studied a webpages and few raga Youtube videos for a few hours before starting at the keyboard smiley
