I wrote this on Sun April 29th after attending the memorial service at Rothko Chapel in Houston for my friend Jeff Goodman (z'l). Jeff was well known in Houston as a Yoga expert and Zen Master (as well as a member of the "Warriors" aka Mankind Project). This was performed four days later at the Thu night Jazz improvisation class at Houston Community College Spring Branch (5/4/12). This was the first time they had ever seen it and so it got off to a rough start but then fell into place.

I believe the melody and music reminiscent of Antonio Carlos Jobim captures the spirit that Jeff created and left as a legacy to us all.

Well written piece of jazz.

It is obvious that the piece could have won a lot by being rehearsed a few times before, but it has its own charm to hear how well these fine musicians nail it anyway. It was a great pleasure to listen to this wonderful music
