This is an instrumental pop song that just waits for someone to write a fresh summer lyric for it. I have attempted to both write and sing something but it did not pass the "quality control". But as an instrumental it is not too bad.

Is someone wants to have a try I can deliver the song as backing track with melody instruments removed.

The voices on the track are standard Logic Pro loops that have been Melodyned.

I guess I'm the oldest here so I'll say it reminds me of some songs that were out in the late fifties but with a nice modern touch to it. Very enjoyable and a nice beat.

Very upbeat piece. As a somewhat dour Scotsman it would be beyond my talents to write a suitable lyric for it smiley
May you find a happy person to do it justice smiley

I really like this, Kenneth, especially the 80s-sound backing, reminds me very much of Erasure, and Blondie, especially when the vocals come in. And I laughed so much at your own quality control issues re. the vocals/lyrics you deemed not suitable! You are a perfectionist smiley PS What is "Melodyned"?

TOO ALL: There is ONE specific inspiration behind this song. I wanted to make a pop song with the same sound and energy as this great classic by the Cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64je1QF3V9k

What I lacked was a good lyric and a good voice. My idea was to make it a duet between a guy and a girl and cruising down the road in a nice car. Well. If anyone wants to write a lyric for it - I am very much up for a collab and creating a backing track.

@toveco - Thanks. Yes. I seems to often have a childish naive element in my songs. And that does not worry me. It is good to feel young. Even when you grow older. I hope I never loose that

@Ramon42 - Yes. For sure 80s sound and inspiration. The song by the Cars I used as inspiration is from 1985

@Xolv - Thanks for the kind words. It was a bit of a hack with those backing vocals. Some loops inside Logic that I changed pitches on using Melodyne.

@Mosaica - Thanks Rosalind. Very kind words. I am glad you liked it.

@Lagusaya2 - Yes. This is the song I sent to you saying - "something is missing here besides the lyrics and singing" - and I then later added the melody line played with the mallet sounds.

@jibes - Thanks for your nice feedback. It means a lot.

@sprkymrt - Thanks for your kind words. It has a happy melody and the 50s was the peak for happy tunes. So a happy 50s tune with 80s sound smiley

@firecircle2 - Thanks for your kind words. Yes. I guess a lyrics about drinking whisky and lovely ladies would not fit here smiley I will write another song for that

@kira001 - Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it is good to be childish sometimes.

@pharmakeus - Thanks for always being there to encourage Chris

@ihussain - Erasure and Blondie. Great names from the 80s. I liked those bands too back then and they are for sure also an inspiration. Melodyne is a fantastic piece of software. It is the digital audio work station for audio that enables you to do similar thing to what you know from Midi. It is mostly known for pitch correction. Making horrible singing sound good. But it cannot do miracles. If the singer is bad the result will be bad. But even for a professionel singer it is cool to be able to fix a couple of mistakes. You can also use it to change key. To add harmony notes on top. You can change note lengths and move the notes in time. And if you are careful you cannot hear that you did it. Fantastic tool in the toolbox. To some singers using tools like this is equivalent to clubbing a baby seal. And it is sad when you pay money to see a live singer that cannot sing - except on CDs where the voice is manipulated. But to happy amateurs like us it is a tool just like equalizers, reverbs, compressors etc. Or like when we cannot play right on the keyboard and fix the midi notes afterwards.

@Deebeesea - I am very happy you liked the song. I was very close to putting it in the bin when I could not make my lame lyrics work. I hope we can revive the song soon with a proper lyric. Then we just need some nice singers. And they are not hard to find here on iCompositions smiley

Nice tune. Has an 80's A-ha vibe to it in a way. I do hear a female vocal over it.

Love the 'washing machine' (only way I know to describe it) beats in this. Wonderful 80s new wave flavors here. Jaunty & lively groove, love the vocals in this. Very cool, great work. Thanks for sharing with us.
