The title kind of says it all. But, for those who might be interested, this is the first in what I hope will be an ongoing series of improvisations in which I make all of the music and do all of the singing - but in a possibly more approachable way.

Nice swing feel, I like the way the vocal timbres mix with the "rhodes" sounds. An interesting exercise to pursue-you are brave! Improvisation tells us what's on our mind and leads us where we want to go!

Sultry, sexy mellowness. Late night jazzing under twinkling stars. Love the sound of a electric piano, beautiful Rhodes sound. Your piano playing sounds wonderful Carla. Your vocals sound strong/powerful (in a great way). I absolutely love to hear stuff like this, where you are doing everything. And you already know I love your improvs. Great work.

Thanks for sharing this gem with us, masterful.

Simple but lovely song. The warm soft voice blends well with the electric piano.

Thanks Raz - I'm experimenting with a personalized reverb right now and like it so far. None of the 'built in' filters for vocals in any of the software I use are quite the way I want them so I built my own finally. Why didn't I do it sooner? lol

Darkmuse - Much appreciated!

thsantac - I think what happens is that once you improvise for so many years, it becomes the way that you proceed, barring outside intervention. I just don't even remember what it feels like to plan something in advance. Everything comes to me in the moment of performance and feels most comfortable that way. OTOH, I am enjoying working with other people's songs more these days as well since that gives me a structure from outside of myself to play with. I'm also thinking that it might be nice to do some composing on paper again, like when I studied composition. It's a lot easier for me to do that with instrumental music, though, than with my voice.

Morris - Thanks so much for your kind and meaningful comments. smiley

What better way to show us your creativity at work? The piano sound matches the mood of your singing and I really liked the bassline.
