Love the special tone in your voice Jane on this really nice arrangement. Sad lyrics but with a true statement on the end. Things do end and new things do begin. One note that I wonder about. is the panning to the left meant to be? I put off my left headphone ear and I heard the song as well but way more harder on the left side.

warm hugs

@MakenaMonk, after reading what you mentioned I went back and listened. You are correct. Casting my mind back to when we recorded this, MissRedd was slightly to one side of the zoom. plus at the very very start I hear 'Queenie' the pet dog walk by. (I hear her collar jangle), now wether she nudged the table and also repositioned the Zoom too...

Anyway enough backstory trivia, it is 'live' one take. Everything recorded 'as is'.

The bridge, well I'm really not sure if those keyboards added post performance add anything of merit, perhaps I need to live with the track a while?

Anyhows I'm glad you like Jana's vocals on this! smiley

i really like your singing style here -
it is refreshing and seems to be a pure, smooth, and alto.
(at least here) (not that you can't do other registers just as well)
ethereal interlude section is unique .
as is the nice guitar work.
the whole package leaves an authentic-live-your-life-fully-and-in-sweet-bliss aftertaste.

JanaBanana & Kevin!

I'm enjoying where the (are they half notes?) are going is very interesting and appealing ... You've got a great ear!

That guitar sounds like a 12 string? Great live sound!

Glad you two are singing and making music!

@RubyDubidoux you'd have to ask Jana if they are 'half notes' she's singing. She has the music degree. I'm just a hack!! smiley

Yes it is a Garrison 12 String (no longer made btw, Garrison a Canadian guitar company got bought out by Gibson and kind of vanished since, there was talk of a relaunch...)

The track is flawed production wise, but as mentioned earlier it's one take live. smiley

@ScottHorwath 'ethereal' eh? smiley That's an adjective rarely (possibly the 1st use of here) used on zallaz stuff, more what I'd associate with Mystified's music. smiley

As I mentioned Jana is the technical/musician here, I just scribble lyrics, generally I just pick up a guitar and go.

The bridge I'm not sure about some choir effect, sounds like a crowd of monks turned up out of the blue. It's a 'contrast' to the rest of the track for sure. smiley

i think this needs a re-arrangement. i'm not sure about the grungy guitar. i think something more plucky & folky might be more suited to this vibe. a re-recording of the vocals is in order. and most of all, an elimination of the virtual monks. this is just a live rough recording. on the zoom. in the living room. before this becomes an actual thing, i think it deserves a few tweaks.

wow vocal fitted well for this style, I think is fine as it is now. Not too much improvisation. Guitar is fine, not so sure about the "Gothic choir" in the middle whether it's necessary or not as a breakdown/bridge part. Maybe guitar solo on the relevant part?
Overall I think is fine
Cheers ^_^V
