finely crafted country ballad telling a cautionary tale with wit and wisdom. the tremolo guitar and the lap steel parts lend authentic sweetness while the lead guitar and vocals add the grit. crystal-clear production accentuates the stark reality of the lyric. mine's a lagavulin, bartender.

Wow Chris!

Those opening guitar notes...! Really set this up!

You write a great story and deliver the goods vocally and with the guitars!

The guitars (how any are there?) all take their part, delivering their part...OH my gosh it was the country and western songs!!??

This song is a killer!!!

@RubyDubidoux. Thanks Elaine. smiley There is a 2002 Mexican Stratocaster through a Music Man 212HD amp with the Vibrato on. The lead guitar is my 1976 Telecaster Custom through my Boogie v2 preamp then into my Fender 75 guitar amp. The slide guitar is my Duesenberg Pomona 6 straight into into the Fender 75. The organ is my cheap old Yamaha "Portatone" electronic keyboard into the cheap Behringer Utragain MIC200 and then into a VST Leslie Box simulation. The bass, piano and drums are midi loops. Extra drums and percussion were progged with BFD Stereo and Edirol Hypercanvas. Vox are me into a Rode NT-1A microphone into the Behringer Utragain MIC200 preamp. smiley

Hi @longshot ... Thanks! smiley ... I wrote the chords and lyrics around last November ... I assembled the loops over a period of several midnight sessions ... when I can't record because the family is asleep and I cannot sleep, I often work with loops and midi though my headphones ... I also rewrote some of the lyrics. The vocals and rhythm guitar were recorded last Monday and the steel and organ were recorded on Wednesday. I mixed it down over many hours, realizing that I needed to find delicate balances in the mix. I know it seems like I churn it out ... but the truth is that I do not work full-time jobs anymore. So I do have time for music smiley ... I have 2 days/week free from now till mid-May, then 2 weeks of exam marking, then 8 weeks of complete unemployment. I am hoping to get at some really outstanding collab commitments soon.

Hey Chris, this is supreme. It has it all, plus a wry, humerous lyric.
All delivered with a real sense of authority, the guitars are great (thanks for the gear breakdown) and well recorded. All topped of with your very distinctive vocal style and a crystal mix.

My ear was oddly drawn to the organ in the right channel, go figure. I normally don't listen to this kind of music (closest is Johnny Cash, sometimes the Golden Palominos). Very good guitar playing and tone. Excellent mix. And more songs should have vibraslap.

Really creative storyline going on in this..you sure come up with some good stuff.

You play those guitars the way they want to be played..indeed the guitar at the end appears to be crying. ....Enjoyed listening to your Country tune, Chris. smiley ~ Cindy
