This song is 90% loops. Only the lead guitar is live. Some of the loops are GB loops, but most are original. The project is a long distance collaboration with my oldest friend Rant. He sent a loop with some bass, triangle and some sort of pad. I'm never exactly sure what he puts in! I loaded it up into GB and looped at different intervals. Then I started adding. I looped some harmonic guitar and some flanged breathing. Then I added a software guitar track with some discordant notes. Then I added a couple pads of my own. Then some GB piano loops (I hope to get my brother to replace the piano track with live piano soon, but it kind of roughs out the composition. Finally, I went back and added some guitar that Brant describes as 'Gilmoresque'. I was disappointed because I was hoping for something that sounded more 'Frippertronic'. I fleshed out the rest of the songs with some sfx loops & pads. I tried to go with Eno's philosophy of different loops of different lengths that never repeat a pattern. Not sure how I feel about it yet. The guitar is pretty rough. I'll probably re-track it.

I love how this intro builds...I might bring that piano forward a bit, but at the same time, edit the velocity of the notes so you don't have that pounding the keyboard sound. 1/3 of the way thru the song, and there still doesn't seem to be a clear melody or direction...The song seems to be just sort of floating around. I keep waiting for something to happen. This is not necessarily bad, but generally this sort of thing only works as a soundtrack/background music to visual images. Halfway through, still the same sort of floating feeling...This is apparently what you guys were going for? I wouldn't mind getting a back massage to this song...Maybe get some aromatherapy candles goin smiley Alright we're almost done here, I"m not too sure what to think of this...It works as mood music, but it doesn't tell a story. If this is what you were going for than job well accomplished. I'm a melodist, so I like melody and a story in my music, but there's nothing really wrong with a piece like this. For what it appears to be trying to do, it works very well. I'm gonna rate this as an ambient mood music piece, and give it 4 stars. Good job, be sure to give Brant his kudos smiley

I think you did justice to tape looping. The guitar playing is good, and I do think it hits upon Fripp, but yeah, Gilmore. I really dig this piece because it's not like much ambient stuff I listen to, the closest I can hear is some Dark Side, and maybe Deadman from Young's soundtrack to the movie. I do like the guitar, but in all honesty, i might lose it and replace it with something less obvious, at least I think that's how it would sound best. The end is beautiful and my favorite part. I can hear violin instead of guitar, that would be interesting. A distorted violin put through a envolope. I don't know. Anyway I really like it and hope to hear more like this one. Production is a little muddy, so... a 4 on that one.

All your concepts keep getting better with each subsequent polishing...more complexity, cleaner production, meaner riffs...just keeps getting better in my book.
