I originally recorded this song live 25 years ago outdoors on top of a mountain in Marin County California using a Roland JX3P, my Custom Stratocaster and an E Bow. The original recording was mastered to standard cassette tape using a home stereo system.

I resurrected the 25 year old tape, copied it to my hard drive and added the rhythms using GarageBand.

PS: The artwork is a painting I did during the same period, however, the painting no longer exists so I "resurrected" it from a slide...

Hardware: Roland JX3P, Custom Stratocaster, E Bow, PowerBook G4

Didn't listen to all 12 min... but a really cool soundscape that is really dynamic, yet coherent and on message thoughout ( at least 7 min. ). You were definitely ahead of your time 25 yrs. ago. Still sounds relevant. Great work!

Yo...Yo and Frozen...thanks for the comments. Man, you guys were on top of this thing. I barely got it posted and you were here listening. Man, that's what I love about this place. FE, do me a favor and listen to the whole thing when you get a chance...I know it's a bit long but...I actually spared you from listening to the other 72 minutes.

once yet again, loved the whole 12+ plus minutes!
thanks for making me feel at home.
there still a place for the old improv.
worked great remixing in GB.
I was exactly where you were at in '80-90 only on the other coast!
It's so similar to what me and buddies were doing then it's scary.
makes me want to dig out all the old 4 track cassettes.
Do you know of Steve Tibbits? Steve Hillage? David Torn? Carl Weingarten?
Who were you listening to then?
there was a radio show here in Philly called Diaspar that played all this. Hosted by John DiLiberto who is now hosting the syndicated show Echoes.
good times...good times

Very cool Elder. Thanks for the comment.I'd like to hear some of those old 4 tracks, so you better start digging. I was surprised to find that some of mine from that vintage have no discernable sound on them anymore at all. Seems the planets have a way of realigning the magnetic forces of tape.
Back then...I was listening to a lot of (old) Eno, Laurie Anderson, Robert Fripp, King Crimson, Adrian Belew, Talking Heads, Phillip Glass, John Cage, The Chicago Art Ensemble...to name a few, as well as the folks you mention in your post.

Good times indeed!

good god, b! this is awesome.
the production is incredible for "resurrecting" an old four-track recording.
it's so seamless, you'd never know about the 25 year time chasm.
i was listening to all the same stuff back then, too (and still am).
yeah, i'm all 12 minutes in and this has totall kept me wrapped.
thanks so much for this. i know the work that goes into production like this.
thanks to Elder, too for turning me onto to this offering.

cheers,

tin man

Thanks Tin Man! and Elder for passing it on. I wish I had time to go back over more of the stuff from those days. So much music stashed away in the archives. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pull off dubbing over the ol' 4 track tape, but it didn't come out too bad after all. Thanks much for the listen and the comments. Blaine
