I'm enjoying my 'new' 20 year old slim body Ovation. It plays like a jazz guitar. This piece grew out of some open chord voicing I was playing around with. I decided I needed to offset the plucking rhythms with some strong steady beats and melodic lines. The sound of the chords brought out the musical styles - Latin Jazz, with a touch of Calypso. I had a lot of fun recording this. Later I would like to add some more Latin drumming parts.

Really a nice start, Sound fantastic already,
but as you say some Latin drum would be nice.

Marry Christmas to you!

shows great style and precision. yup I do hear a sort of latin jazzy percussion, but very subdued, maybe just a shaker and rimshot. the rhythm is already carried nicely

Yes. It's got a fat, warm tone I don't get in my dreadnoughts.

Very nice. I like it as it is raw and simple yet sophisticated. I like the ovation sound somewhat evocative of the old Gibson 175. The lounge is open "Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends." (Francis Bacon, I love that quote.)

Thanks for the comment - what are they serving in the lounge?

Listening to it now, I think something is wrong with my mixer, possibly the one in Logic Pro X. It does have a few bugs still. I was getting very poor stereo separation, and in my frustration I moved the panning about willy nilly. I noticed that the lead part switches position (I used different tracks). Anyway, it's not too bad.

harpiness Artist I just listened to it here in cold Ireland and it sounds so summery!

I really like this one. It has a wonderful chilled out feel and think the title really suits it. The recording is really clear. Well done.

Hey Cliona aka @harpiness. Thanks for the comment. I didn't expect to hear from you on iCompositions. How is sunny old Ireland? It's in the high thirties and low forties in Sydney lately. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Great guitar play and beautiful chords !
I remember when I've bought my actual acoustic guitar, 20 years ago too.
My choice balanced between Ovation and Yamaha.
I finally choosed the second and don't have regrets.
But when I listen to your performance and to the quality of the song, I'll perhaps try an Ovation, having more money now smiley

Thank you for sharing.

Beautifully performed and recorded!

I agree with you that some other percussion and latin style beats would be nice, but I really enjoyed this as it is but would not be sad to hear you "spice" it up, either.

Excellent!
