There is an energy in punk like in no other music. I never liked the punk culture. The clothes, the rings in the face, the stupid hair. It all became commercial fashion like everything else. People made money on all the punk clothes, jewels, hair products, etc.

The music was real. The music was young people and their anger and their frustrations, and it was rock and roll back to the roots.

Excellent punk riff. All we need now is an angry young man and a microphone

The thing that interests me about punk music is how it basically originated with the New York Dolls then the music spread and it was adopted by the British to express their youth's political views and then be commercially exploited by people like Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood.

A lot of fringe culture eventually becomes mainstreamed at some point and it's all really about commerce more than anything, but the appeal was definitely the attitude of defiance and anarchy.

Hits you like a freight train. Slap yer mammy tune that grips you by the collar and knocks you silly. Love it!
