These just grow more and more ambitious... time was I could easily hear the transitions from one songlet to the next, but this one just has them weave much more smoothly from entry to entry, and have enough changes even within themselves that I just felt that it was a fantastic mfwmiles suite... the longest yet, too. Remember when you tried to keep to a strict minute each? smiley

Great job, my friend... as I write this I'm only up to songlet #7, but I'm totally grooving on it. You've grown by leaps and grounds in your musicianship... some FANTASTIC guitar work here, and great production! Just wonderful!

WOW! The one that 'stands out' to me upon first listen is "If I Didn't Know Any Better". It is giving me the chills in a very wonderful way. Loving the background vocal layers throughout. You are slaying me with "Looking Forwards..." This fits my current mood/state perfectly. Exactly what I needed to hear at this moment. Love it. Outstanding work, thanks for sharing with us.

This composition may be unique to an audience that can grasp a sound sample/clip from within the artist’s mind. I found this composition refreshing.

An Artist Appetite I hear are as follows:
- A 60’s genre feel with a twist of Bowie 70’s bonanza.
- A intertwine southern folk front porch fantasia.
- A Creative Crayon Box with Horns from Heaven.
- A transition terrain that in my book is flawless.
- A landscape that portrays memories from our audio past, such as an 8-tack flipping to the other side, but without the click.
- A Lyrical Labyrinth from a genius mind.
- A Comprehensive Composition with a Masterpiece Mix.
- A genuine respect for the artistic fruits of labor.

My Best,
Doc

A bit late, away for a while...
What can I say more after all these wonderful comments, it's overwhelming how much creativity you have, from all the "crazy" instruments in your unmistakable orchestra, to the beautiful melodies rolling so smoothly one after another and the lyrics which are actually poems, themes so profound - loved all the space-time-universe connotations, like the "black hole's opportunity to stretch my bones and buy some time", pure physics turned into poetry!
Indeed, this is genius work my friend!

You're the only I know here who is able to produce such long piece, taking care to give a name to each section (this used to be in the 70's). Maybe some transitions are a bit rough smiley Anyway, had a great pleasure listening to it. Great work man.

Your mind is so very **creative** to have come up with all these songs...wow!

Great job on the music and singing throughout.

Songs that really stood out for me..."If I didn't Know Better"......3b-"The Universe and Eternity".

Top favourite section - 7:15 - 8:37....just *excellent* job on everything on this! It's a winner! Would love to hear a "long" version of it for sure!!

I can only imagine all the work that went into this. ....Sadly, I don't think the majority of people have the time to listen to a 18 minute piece... a shame....because these songs should be getting the exposure they deserve. .... Myself, I never comment unless I have listened to a piece in it's entirety, and I really enjoyed this. .......So wishing you would lengthen and complete these songs and, then post them to each "stand on their own".

Love the picture, looks like something my grand-daughter would do. smiley ~ Cindy

1 Catchy as all hell, with a Beatlesque chorus and a damn fine bit of Guitar playing.
2 Those harmonies!
3 The lyrics are wonderfully vibrant here; they’re bubbling with mischief. And the shifts of mood are brill. (Your whole production is just freaking great, dude.)
4 A perfect example of your unique phrasing here. And funny too.
5 This is the song Bob Dylan wish he’d written …
6 With the Velvet Underground.
7 Nicely philosophical with a nice little sing-a-long vibe.
8 Very, very, very, very sweet melody and sentiment and lyrics.
9 And a darkly upbeat outro.

This is a marvellous set of songs/poems/sentiments/messages wrapped up in a wonderfully natural sounding easy production. There is some awesome phrasing that only you could come up with and some great unexpected little twists - both musical and lyrical - that keep the spice going nicely. Absolutely bloody brilliant, Dude!

It's a beautiful Sunday morning, I'm sitting in my pool room that overlooks my swimming pool. The sun is shining, I'm drinking an ice cold glass of my beloved Diet Coke, headphones perched a top my head listening to your incredible creation. I love everything about it. I know something is masterful and long-lasting when I can hear it the first time and know that the more I listen to it the more I will like it. My admiration goes far beyond the musicality of this, As I close my eyes and listen I'm transported. Better than anything I have heard commercially, better by leaps and bounds. Your talents are boundless. This is the kind of work that (can and will)influence my own future projects.

I have to say in all honesty your work blows me away Michael, so inventive rhythmically, melodically, and vocally all polished with a class production and mix.
Some of the lyrics are so well observed and humerous, yes there are times when I hear Bowie too but hey, that's no bad deal eh?
Some sweet sounding backing vocals too...very Beatlesque in places to my ear. A ticket to heaven!
Another superb work from a quiet genius...thanks for posting Michael.

First song... I am so waiting for you to make these band sounds bigger...
Your singing is really clear and sweet but I think the backing music could really help you "perform" more/better if the music friggin' drove you by the gonads! Loved that break in the middle by the way, totally saw me on stage doing it!

Second... Sweet harmonies and guitar play, as always, great layered chorus vocals
You're "hey" as the music breaks, man, again, hope you can figure out how to make
the sound bigger to really pack that "hey" kind of punch. Nice clean production!

Oh, I also like the emotional voice break!

Third - so much stage presence ! I really think you could "ham it up" more!
Damn, I love this piece! Channeling so many of the greats! This one could definitely find a longer piece.

Forth - holy sh*t. If you took out that cheesy midi sound in the background, this is soooo money. I love this one so far the most! Oh gawd dammit! I really wanna hear your change up with such a bigger sound! It's soooo good! Please please please Mikey, make your midi sounds sound bigger! It'll inspire your vocal production too!

Fifth - okay. This. My favorite writing so far. these are the kind of words that really got me paying attention to the words, not the writing.

Sixth - again, a stage worthy goodie if only you could beef up the sound a bit more, your voice is sounding good but I guarantee that you'd even perform better if you got that production up some!

Oh, sixth turned into seventh while I was writing.

Eighth
Great melody! Damn, I could so hear this just you and acoustic. Actually, I think I heard it just like this with some of your earlier tunes in this piece as well. Kind of like a Cat Stevens style.

Ninth - more stage-worthy goodiness!
I so sang out loud with this and I would love to sing some vaudeville for you if you ever want!
*wink wink*

Mikey pally, I'm on my forth listen! It's a goodie! I can so totally hear more power and presence from you but overall this is another wonderful piece!

I think it's time to challenge yourself though!

Oh and, I miss you.

I think the musicians summed up all the wonderful sounds and breaks so I am just going to address the lyrics. I think you have beautifully captured the feelings many people are having of late. What I like best about your songs is that you only follow the rules you make and yet you capture a style uniquely you yet let your influences be apparent. This reminds me of Bowie in many places. It is poetry set to your own style of music.

I cant imagine all the work that has gone into this! I love the way the parts meld together, it's an art forgotten. The recording sounds like a professionally produced classic.

Sorry I'm so late to this party, but this is awesome! I didn't know you were putting together Side 2 of Abbey Road. I don't know how you manage to pull off these ambitious projects like this. I can't even focus on one 3 1/2 minute song and finish it in a timely manner (as you well know). I agree with a lot of what Jack said, but here's my take:
Lyrically - exceptionally strong - love the theme/motif.
Vocally, especially layered background vox - maybe your strongest to date.
Musically - very ambitious. I don't know how you got all the different parts and structures to seamlessly flow into each other, but you managed to do it.
Sorry it took me so long to finally get through it properly. Now I have to finish our collaboration! Get ready!

Nice work, Mikey!

"Fanfare" is very apt...i like the brass (steel drums?) that's kinda new if yer productions, right?

2 is a great song, Miles...really prescient lyrics and there seems to be a little more gravel in yer gizzard that sounds really good. smiley

"I'm looking fw to dying alone" is a powerful statement and (is it wrong?) i've had that same wish several times myself... smiley

I WONDER IF YOU DO THIS ALL IN ONE SETTING VOCAL-WISE?

A Lennon reference is always good... smiley

5 reminds me of Dylan (gonna go see him tomorrow night!) "surround by a field of sun flowers swirling brilliant like a billion constellations turning silent through millennia" that's a great line there, Miles... this is prob my fav...

7 there's some tight assed harmonies in here...well-done, amigo

8 i spoke too soon...this is the best. Truly beautiful tune, Miles.

I feel the same about my son - who is also named Jack - it's a gift to pass on whatever you are to the future, huh?

Great job on this!
