Excellent. This instantly puts the listener is a positive & happy space. Conga line is forming now. Party atmosphere here. I think I will be humming this long after I am finished listening. When the 'tower of power' horn section kicked in, I got goosebumps. Then the smoothness of the chill down. Breezy island groove jam. Those horns are everything. Outstanding work, thanks for sharing with us.

@Jacalore Thanks Jac for your comments and listen, much appreciated.

@KCsGROOVE Hi Cees In these days of convenient bite sized percussion samples we can make it all sound authentically percussive as opposed to CONcussive. In past experience having a percussion player in the band always gave an edge (In my playing circles, Jazz et al) so I find the temptation to include perc on all of my tunes to much to resist!
Thanks again Cees

@grathy I always love your one liners Mary, thank you!

@Narananda Hi N. Thank you for such a valued comment, the mixing of this track made a happy man old! It was a toughie, I have about 20 different mixes of this and in the end I wound up using one of the first mixes. Sods law I think they call it! Thank you again.

@toveco Hi Tom I am happy that you enjoyed the listen. I must say I do get a buzz thinking that my music might be heard and enjoyed in such a beautiful location as yours...Thanks Tom.

@AlHughson I often wonder how well off musicians would be if we were paid by the note! lol Then guitarists would be hugely wealthy with drummers coming in at a close second...I know...I should get out more!
Thanks Al..Hoots!

@thsantac Hi Thierry Thats the money comment right there regarding the mix! As I explained to Narananda above, this was a difficult track to mix, not because there's so much going on but because some of the frequencies of the instruments used were very close to each other and trying to give them their own little space can be a challenge to say the least.
A true example of this will be evident in the next track I upload. It was THE most troublesome mix I've ever had to work on.

Thank you Thierry your comments were flattering but very helpful indeed!

@A1K3M1 Hey Chris Thanks for such detailed comments the "'round in my head" melodies are a legacy of my pop writing days and difficult to avoid, the die having been cast a long time ago.

Oddly this piece does have a "Feelgood" quality yet I chose a title that refers to the most depressing day of the year! Blue Monday.
A little known fact I was completely ignorant to....and there I was thinking I was being so hip! Ha. Thanks again Chris...

@Smileygeezer Wotcha Geez, I enjoyed "Wait and see" a wry lyric.
I can't help but recognise a fellow Londonah, as only a Londonah would give themselves such a pseudonym...not that many left these days, they all moved to Marbella...lol.
Thanks m8 for listening and commenting

@RTe Hi Omar I've not been active on icomp for a while, something I will remedy with a listen to "Blink Street" forthwith...thanks for listening to BM...

@eX1 Hi eX(?) Thank you so much for listening and commenting so positively, the mix comments are so welcome.
I suspect like many other musicians who post here, I especially welcome mix feedback, as it can act as a barometer of whether what you're doing makes sense to others... if you see what I mean? (not the most coherent sentence I've ever constructed!)
Thanks again eX1

@waveman Hey Wm It's good to hear from you again which means you're probably nowhere near the huge fires in Canada.
Thanks for listening and commenting it's always much appreciated...Stay safe my friend...

@mre Hi M "Minzeresque?" Thanks I think? I've not heard of him before, I'm presuming he's an Udu player?
I managed to borrow one from an old friend a few years ago and sampled the hell out of it whilst I had it, those samples have featured fairly regularly on my stuff but only rudimentary phrases, she on the other hand, was an absolute whizz on it!

I missed this one on Monday but it works on Wednesday too. I keep saying that your music reminds me of a certain band so I won't bring it up again>> that's a compliment plus πŸ™†πŸ™†. I especially like the 🎷 and 🎺.

@dalerandle Hi Dale Thanks for listening and commenting, always appreciated any day of the week.
I guess people will always draw comparisons when appraising others work, that's human nature. We subconsciously search for references by which we can gauge.
If that appraisal references a particular band/artist who are nothing short of brilliant...then that compliment is definitely, humbly and gratefully accepted.
The trumpet is the result of many hours of cutting and pasting and even more hours of blatant indecision, I think I got it right in the end tho...Thanks again Dale...

Really enjoyable track. Digged it all. As usual your percussion was excellent.

I liked the composition. The verse melody and chords remiinds me of the deep south rnb/gospel influence to jazz. The lush chords in the B-part and the way back to the cermonial verses were super.
Thanks very much for sharing!

@Xolv Hey X I am always cheered by your comments, detailed, thoughtful and well observed. My thanks for that!
Cheers for listening and commenting...

@maestrodog Hey MD, I genuinely loved Clap Clap Clap, that's such a good song and so fit for purpose i.e. Grandkids...
Thanks for listening to Blue, I'm happy to reciprocate...

@pharmakeus Hi Pharm, Thanks for listening and for your great comments, that's a buzz right there.
The bass was a mix of played and programmed, mainly because I went for fretless in the end but I don't own a fretless bass. The original fretted bass was all played. Cheers M8.

@Bowman Hi Charlie, I think the Genre categories on icomp are a little limited STILL!
I don't really regard my work as Jazz as such, I'm sure there are many true jazzers on I comp who would agree with me.
However your comments were a real buzz to read, I'm happy you took the time to listen and enjoy and your compliments humbly accepted.

@Neumusik Thanks for listening and commenting, I must be getting the mixes right if it all sounds pro...onward and upward NM...

@KennethLavrsen Hi Ken Thanks for listening and commenting so positively, such compliments are warmly and gratefully accepted. (Learning to accept a compliment is a life lesson that took me a long time to learn)
I hope you give it a listen when your driving home early evening!
Thanks again Ken.

Some lovely motifs here.. Especially that kind of sax/ vibes combo thing.
Really dig this!
I hate the concept of 'pro-sound' for some reason but this sure has class and professionalism..
Did I contradict myself?
No, this is great πŸ˜€

Love the smooth and sinuous melody line ....... very hooky and memorable!
An impressive arrangement - the layers of percussion are perfect!
The wild trumpet solos are fab - you must have a neck like Dizzy Gillespie smiley
Totally pro !!

Late in the conversation.......haven't been around here enough. Nicely produced and easy to listen and enjoy......you made it worth stopping by as usual. A ton of great elements going on here. You truly have a producers mind combined with talent. Keep giving us these tasty morsels of musical treats.

P.S. I thought that it said "Blue Morning" at first, so I thought it was a Foreigner remake, lol!
I've been filling in for a Foreigner Tribute band's bass player.....so I was intrigued to hear your take on it.

@JimTheObscure Hi Jim Thank you for your thoughtful comments, there might be a hint of contradiction in what you said however at the end of the day it's whatever tickles, regardless of polish or professionalism. Thanks m8 I really appreciate the listen...

@RichardJohn Hi Richard...There's that "Pop head" thing again. I just can't shake it off...oh well. I don't really get a say in the matter, the melodies appear out of thin air and usually right for the task, as it were.
I supported Dizzy at Ronnie's a long time ago and he was extraordinary...not just his playing but his bullfrog impression...
Thanks for listening and commenting Richard...

@music_man Hey Scott... Me? Foreigner? Nah mate! Mind you if they decided to reform and were to ask me to play I wouldn't say No..lol
Thanks for listening and commenting Scott and great to hear you're still out there doin' it!

ok, here is my problem....just when i think you are the best drummer i have every heard, i find out that you are also the best damn horn arranger, then you start with those keys and they blow me away, and would you stop already with the perfectly subtle guitar stabs!!!

this has a real laid back beautiful, a lilting melody that just floats me along, but doesn't rest until it DRAGS you flying down the rapids!!! it kept me engaged and listening to each subtlety up to the very end....

in other words, another gorgeous piece!!!!

Very nice.

Dropped by to see what you might be up to and thoroughly enjoyed this. It's Monday, things are somewhat blue, and it seems this wasn't an accident. To me, this piece is quite uplifting and helped make my day (late night) ...better. Thanks.
