Happy new year all my fellow friends smiley

Didn't post anything since november 2016, I thought it was time to try to compose something new for this new year.

Recently found the orchestral strings library I have been searching for years, it is CineStrings 2.1, it sounds fabulous to my ear, anything you play with it sounds great. So I ended with this new composition, trying different variation of a main theme coming here and there in the piece.

Libraries used :

- CineStrings 2.1
- CineSamples CineBrass,
- Berlin Woodwinds,
- Spitfire Percussion,
- Requiem Light Choirs,
- Galaxy Vienna Grand Piano.

Hope you'll like it.

Thanks in advance.

I am listening to your work now......beginning....nice chords but shows that you are using the keyboard strings....no legato makes them sound unreal......then.....ooohhhhh.....nice.....good......modulation.....i like the loose pizz on the bass......here comes the flute.....beautiful....but much too loud....second flute...good volume.....here comes the piano.....a little heavy but pleasant....it all has a reverb that could be a little different...here come some strings....oops..sounds artificial.....I am hearing a consistency in your use....its not that your composition isn't beautiful...it is......but your strings SOUND like you are playing them from a keyboard in that each note change begins with a volume change and then decrescendo's a little bit making the keyboard obvious instead of the way strings really play...............big change here.....a choir has entered.....strings problem gone.....big crescendo.......everything is way too loud.....may I recommend you use not only panning....but depth to place the instruments where they would sit in an orchestra? The composition has flair and is very pleasant.....but professionally you will need to string your midi bars of the strings in a very small overlap to get them to sound better......I hope you will take this as only a constructive criticism...and one with the only intention of your RECORDINGs becoming better and more professional....your compositions are fine and good.....your recording engineering needs some work.....thanks....really enjoyed your music.

It is a matter of taste ! Les différentes parties manquent peut-être de fluidité et d'ajustements de sonorité, mais c'est vraiment une pièce magnifique. Le chaos engendre parfois des étoiles plus que scintillantes !
Happy new year, Thierry smiley

Aren't Cine/Symphonic VSTi great? Each generation has more realism. The fun is in arrangement/engineering to "humanize" those nasty midi notes. Great job. Thanks - Phil

@wescurry45nion Thanks a lot for this great analysis man. As you said I take it constructive. Always thought that the use of modulation wheel was a great way to get more humanized strings play, to express real bow strength / weight on the strings, being light then strong then light again. Am I wrong?

Once again, thanks a lot for this comment.

@toveco Thanks my friend, glad you liked it.
@Narananda Merci Harald pour ce joli commentaire, tu as raison, tout est une histoire de goût mais en musique classique il y a des choses que l'on ne peut pas se permettre, je dois travailler la-dessus.
@falconep I used to compose with LASS 2 strings but too much setting in this library and you cannot change articulation dynamically, so CineStrings is the best for me. Thanks a lot.

It is a wonderful listen. I've heard it through 3 times or so.
I also found wes' comment interesting. It makes sense if you make music to satisfy music managers in the business. If it is to create music, there is no need to emphasize the limitations of the dynamics of any orchestra.
Anyhow, interesting composition and wonderful sounds full of expression.

@Xolv Wow, I could not think this piece would arouse such debates about music composition smiley I think Wes is right about traditional classical orchestration and about the fact you have to respect what is a real classical orchestra composed of human playing real instruments. But I think you are too, the use of digital sampled libraries in a DAW can expand the way we mix a classical piece and brings much more creativity and originality. I am somewhat between those two opinions smiley Anyway, thanks a lot for this marvelous comment.

The scope is majestic, befitting the grand occurrence of a star, whether it be celestial or earthly. Wonderful work! Truly.

Composing in MIDI with the sample packages that are being hugely improved upon each year is a thrilling medium. And as you mention, its own capabilities brings new ways to conceive music which should be explored for itself.

@FunkoMatt Hello new friend, glad you liked that piece and that it takes you on a trip smiley

@ScottHorwath Thanks a lot Scott. I am proud to have the presence of a music lover here.

@grathy Hi Mary, always a great pleasure to get some feedback from you. I think you can get back your loops if you have GB install DVD. Thanks a lot.

I just like it. I wish I could create something this complex and moving. It feels like a movie soundtrack and is a seriously well done work. Not to disparage rock'n'roll (where I live in a 4/4 world), but this is much more thought out, big in scope, reasoned, planned, and arranged. Brilliant, really, in my book. Thanks for posting.

A spectacular work, Santac. One of my favorite works is The Pines of Rome, The Pines of the Appian Way (I pini della Via Appia: Tempo di marcia) by Ottorino Respighi and the gradual build in this piece reminded me a bit of that one. Outstanding!

@BigJimSlade This piece is in 4/4 at the beginning but it evolves in 6/4 in the last part because of the background staccato strings theme. Thanks a lot for this marvelous comment my friend.

@CharlyDeeCynthius Grazie mille il mio amico smiley

@Neumuzik Wow, what a compliment ! Will check this Ottorino Respighi piece soon. Thanks a lot.

Je trouve que tu affines ton art à chaque nouvelle composition, Thierry.
J'aime bien ce morceau symphonique, reposant.
Le piano à 2'30 est de toute beauté.
Tu as trouvé ta voie ...
Merci !

PS : je ne mets habituellement aucune "star" mais je déroge à la règle car ta chanson le mérite.
