I once shared a stage with Joel Mabus a Canadian singer songwriter. He performed a beautiful song called "Touch Another Name". So inspired by this I went home and started writing "Desert Rain". I had watched for years the news clips on Remembrance Day of the people touching names on The Long Black Wall and wondered how many tears had fallen there and how those tears are what nourished the grass below. This was one of my very early recording projects and I do kind of regret the use of a very basic drum machine...oh well. I used my bass for the signature riff and an acoustic for the chords. Enjoy.

Absolutely a great piece you put together. Meaningful and reflective of circumstances that, unfortunately, way too many people somehow found themselves in throughout time. I am reluctant to say it is part of life, as I am reluctant to agree it is necessary. The performance and production is top notch. Certainly you could have done more with the drums, but there is an elegance in simplicity and I like it the way it is.
