The song Dirty Old Town was written in 1949 by Ewan MacColl and known by the versions of the Dubliners and the Pogues worldwide.

The song refers to the city of Salford, Lancashire, England, where MacColl grew up. It was originally composed as a breakover for a difficult scene change in MacColl's performance in Landscape with Chimneyser in 1949 in Salford. With the increasing popularity of folk music, the song became the standard program for many bands.

This is my small version... smiley
