Oooh, this might just be my favourite one yet. I love the percussion - simultaneously full of energy but without dominating what's going on. The subtlety in the bass as it rises and falls is also really cool. Very moody, very captivating.

Hi Bec!

Yes...this is interstellar express lane music! That deep swirling bass is most taunting and at times a bit menacing! I like it!

Like how it minimizes at the end, like interstellar lace. Lovely!

Well done Bec!

Yes I gotta say that bass is fantastic! I like the atmosphere and how the song slows down and speeds up again. I am curious how you go about writing something like this? Pretty much most of what I have done is from a theoretical inspiration.

Thank you, all, for your time and comments.

@w1av, If I remember correctly, for this tune, I had the idea of doing a more laid back piece to contrast with the other pieces in this collection, so, I began by creating several many bars of percussion. I wanted the percussion to be busy, though smooth. To counter that busyness I began building the synth combinations to be very relaxed and with just a bit of tension emotionally. I ended up with three synth pad-like tracks. Then, I developed the bass line, which, ultimately, is the main attraction of the piece, much like the other tunes in this collection. In fact, it is the same bass synth, just run through a different amp. I also added a FM Sub bass that, for some parts, runs an octave below the first bass track. I really wanted a phat bass sound that permeated the lower frequencies. As the tune developed, I added to and embellished the percussion to respond to the musical shifts and emphasis points and added a few sound effects in the transitions.

Also, as alluded to above, I usually have a mood in mind, pick a key, and start fiddling with melody, percussion, or emotional content first and see what happens. A lot of trial and error. A lot of "just what sounds good to me" going on.

All in all, this one is relatively a simple composition and came about fairly quickly.
