Wow. I've listened to this a few times now and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. The time signature, if it can even be said to have one, seems to be shifting constantly, leading the ear on a bewildering dance. Pretty much as soon as I get to the end I find myself needing to hit play again, feeling like I've almost grasped it this time, and one more listen will get me all the way there. One more listen...

@eido, the time signature is 5/4 and it does remain the same throughout, though the percussion evolves in its frills and fills. I thought about stating the signature in the description, then thought not. So sorry, to confuse you.

It sounds a bit lame to claim this in retrospect but I had my suspicions about it being in 5. Last night I was on the way to convincing myself, but with fresh ears this morning it had slipped away again. It's the offbeat accents that do it, I think. But don't apologise - I love it. I enjoy music that doesn't immediately divulge all its secrets to me - it keeps me coming back for me. A few months ago I was trying to describe the common thread running through a lot of the stuff that I like, and the best I could do was 'stuff that doesn't immediately make sense'. We place greater value on that which was acquired at greater cost, and I think that holds true of art as much as anything else. A top 40 pop hit might be immediately accessible and even catchy but doesn't tend to reward repeated close listening, whereas in Beethoven's late piano sonatas or string quartets I find something new, or understand something in a new way, each time through. Non-obvious music is the interesting music, at least for me.

A wonderful feeling to it. The openers and implied harmonic flow. Fusion jazzy ambient in my ears.

Good composition, very creative with the time signature. My only suggest: nothing sounded "bright", like every track EQ'd under the master. Drums were good with reverb, synths good with the "misty"; but piano, bells and bass could have been moved forward by punching up independently. Thanks - Phil

Very adventurous and the product is crystal clear. Lots of interesting lines that come out of it being 5/4 and the odd meter thing works really well. Compositionally reminds me of @revoltington without the furious guitars.
Great work.

Yeah I like this...jazzy and dreamy. Did you play all the parts? Sounds super. Reminds me of 80's in a way.

@w1av, thanks! I wrote everything in the edit field of Logic, as I do most of my tunes, especially in the last few years. I try to always write from the perspective of a person playing the instrument live or something similar. I use my experience of playing guitar incessantly for several many decades, playing piano a bit, and my experience of knowing players of other instruments in adding nuances into each instrument’s part.

This is very interesting soundscape...
Complicated enough, so you can't grasp it on first listen...
Kind of dark but with the hope! of bells...
Great piece of music!
