This song is a tribute to one of my favourite characters from the new Joss Wheadon movie Serenity (and its TV predecessor Firefly)

SPOILER ALERT: you should see Serenity first before listening to this song. Its sort of a spoiler - and will also make a lot more sense after seeing the movie.

Some more information about the song and how it came about, and lyrics as well can be found on my blog at

This still feeels like rock despite the obvious country instrumentation. I don't mean that as a slight so much as a compliment to the arrangment and overall sensibility. Kind of genetically engineered country, at least.

kc6sye Listener This has to be the most addictive firefly song I've found. The instrumentals the beat it's wonderful. I've driven my wife mad listening to it, she gets the beat stuck in her head. The lyrics are great, I tear up at the end over the loss of a great character, knowing he went doing what he loved.PS Love the digery-do(sp?) its all great you guys rock.

Bob, one of the hardest things sometimes about uploading songs is having to choose a category/genre. Much of my music never seems to fit one or the other. In this case I chose country, but it coulda been folk or rock. Also, the movie

Hey, thanks for the comments kc. Although my flatmate is an even bigger Firefly fan than I am, she still complains every time she hears it that it gets stuck in her head for hours. And even though I wrote it - it still does the same for me. The didgeridoo and guitar loops are where I started, and then slowly wrote lyrics and added more of the drum and fiddle sections to give the song a boost. Trying to fit in the Joss samples was tricky - but worked out well in the end. I knew I had the song right when I listened to it and got all teary, and my flatmate burst totally into tears at the end.
