Here is a new philosophical folk-rocker.

The concept is inspired by a passage from the ancient Greek poet Pindar. It is quoted---albeit slightly paraphrased---in the mid-section of the song, at the beginning of the Latin/Jazz-tinged interlude.

I sing, play bass, acoustic and electric guitars, and organ.

Except for the mid-section---which employs modified midi loops provided by Logic Pro X---the drums are modified midi loops from groovemonkee.com's “Rock Essentials 1” kit. All the midi drums were run through the Logic Pro X “SoCal+” setting.

Hope some of you can enjoy this.

Be well friends!

I can't write like this! Old man like me is still stuck in the past! I like your creation though! Just wishing I can have your musical skills!

Geez Stan... I think you're a fine lyricist. As for stuck in the past... I tend to have nine toes stuck back in the day and one big toe in the present. (It's very uncomfortable don'tcha know!)

Anyway, I do appreciate the kind words!

I might even call this "progressive country", as if Gentle Giant were influenced by the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers rather than Yes and renaissance music. Really interesting.

@ Musically, you are multi-talented. I agree with Stan we can't write songs like this, never mind perform it. Ken

Bill, Phil, and Ken! (Sounds like a law firm...Ha ha...)

Thanks for listening and commenting guys. Lots of talent at this site. For me it's like a sonic smorgasboard.

Glad you enjoyed this little ditty!

Thanks KC. Don't here the Doors here so much... but the influence is certainly lurking in my subconscious!

Hey Brewchugger: I've been an avid Tull fan for most of my life! If I had to pick only one band to listen to for the rest of my life I would choose Tull without hesitation; in part because of the sheer amount of music they've recorded, and because virtually every style can be found represented in their catalog.

Thanks guys, for the kind words!

This is really sweet, man! I wish I could write like that.
Great subtle use of the vibrato on the guitar that was very cool.
VERY nice arrangement and I really dig the spoken word part also.

well, you are kinda hitting all the notes for me! fantastic production, guitar work, song writing...i am trying to grab at what the song reminds me of, but the organ is fantastic! great work! i am also partial to the reference of greek literature...i am currently trying to (and failing horribly) to write a greek comedy/opera...epic stuff man, well done.
