Lou Reed has written this song in 1972. I have always liked the saxo of Ronnie Ross and the so particular bass of Herbie Flowers.
I've tried to keep the singular musical atmosphere of the original track.
Dylan brings his incomparable vox and his talent.

lyrics, music : Lou Reed
vox : Dylan
instruments, adaptation : Lafayette

Thanks Dyl, it's always a pleasure to create something with you !

Thank you for these comments...It's been great fun to surf on this Lafayette tune, as always. Thanks a lot, my Païs !...A lot of people sees Paris and France through the voice of Edith Piaf. When i was in my teens, i used to imagine New York through the Velvet songs...Not quite the same.

I have a special request (and Lafayette agrees)...I have been around this site for...one year now. The first comment i had was from jkane. He did it, and did it again. And again. I guess without him i would have simply give up. And forget about this Garage Band thing. So, with this so "New Yorkesque" song here, i'd like to THANK him so much. And i know that what he did for me, he's currently doing it for a lot of us on Icomp. He's got heart, he's got soul, he's got amazing talents, he's an unbelievable singer/songwriter, his ears are open wide, he's simply a gentleman. I hope every newbie here will have such great support... So let's carve it in stone :

And I agree with you Dylan regarding jkane....he was there for me too when I took my first baby-steps on iC. Maybe we should write him a love song!?

I've heard this song on the radio, I think you did a cool work together with this version! I like the instrumental track a lot, and of course great vocals!

In this JKane topic, I just want to add that when I got here, on the 16th of November 2005, the first comment was from him as well! I think it's great to welcome newbies in many ways, to make them feel home and share music. I think that's what makes a great community! And of course with the right people to develop it... hehe!

Anyway great work on the tune, perhaps another hit this week? Thanks!

Thanks for all your comments and specially to you Dyl "le Païs" for this new collab.

I agree with you, Dyl, for the cool reception I have had by jKane.
In the meantime, I don't forget "my " first ones, for the first song I published "Mal au Jazz" (september 26, 2005) : anDroidfrisbee, Vaporman, DGO, Didier... and, then, the other friends who have encouraged me, like a father holds the hand of his child for his first steps... Yohmar, ssstebbe, Danman, Illuminator, et, Ponkey, Sebastien, archie-Jérôme, Ghost, Jacobwasher, jOjO (very difficult to write...), Pharmakeus, Raygarrido, Polyglot, theGranz, Baboon, Rich, Dave, Jay, Ian, 40, Claus, jobu, Cruz, Luiti, Aruera, Bampot, Johan, Doddster, McD, Ed, David, Orange, enicholsIC, Wal4u and Eric ...

Thank you for this, icomps friends !

What total joy this is... a beautiful rendition.

Dylan is my Reed.

I suppose this song does encourage a nostalgic feeling. Ponkey was the first to write something for me, and it wasn't much longer after that when jolofsson decided to make a comment and the rest is history.

Nice cover. Dylan, your voice was perfect for this track. Thanks for sharing it.

Igno

Yeah, I also got a lot of encouragement from jkane when I first joined, and feel very fortunate to have collaborated with him. Had it not been for him and a few others, I'm fairly sure all my guitars would be lying dormant in their cases. So your sentiments about jk are also mine.

As Eric Kartman would say: " I love you guys"

Seriously though, what goes around, comes around. Blacklily was my spark and Yohmar & Richard Geiger gave me a big boost too. Let's not forget the fact that Icomp is free and PM99/jlgerk/mattf etc. have given us this global arena to rekindle something that might have died for many of us.

Dylan, you give more than you receive. Your talents have brought so many of us a lot of joy and the belief that we can do it too.

We're listening in New York City!!!

p.s. thanks for sharing this great song Lafayette and thanks for sharing your comments space with a 'amateur' like me.
